Water Quality Analyst - Biology Team - COVID-19 Project

Water Quality Analyst – NSW Government


A Water Quality Analyst (Biology Team) is required by a NSW Government Department in West Ryde on an initial 6-month. The Analyst will work on a COVID-19 project within a routine and non-routine analysis laboratory environment.
  
Key accountabilities:
  • Perform routine and non-routine  Chlorophyll analyses, using a range of equipment in accordance with procedures to meet customer quality & time expectations and regulatory & operational requirements, with minimal or no supervision
  • Spectrophotometric analysis of chlorophylls including Chlorophyll-a, Lorenzen and Pheophytins
  • Calibrating Spectrophotometer to align with accreditation requirements
  • Identify problems and undertake problem solving appropriate to the level
  • Check relevant data entry for accuracy, report unusual results and issues immediately to Senior staff
  • Quality control, checks and calibrations
  • Maintain sterilisation of the laboratory
Selection criteria:
  • Relevant tertiary-level qualifications (in biology a)
  • Minimum of three years' experience working in biology lab environment
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)/Aseptic techniques
  • Strong ability to multitask and work within a fast-paced team that has a high sample through put
  • Awareness of safety requirements related to the role and ability to demonstrate personal responsibility for safety
  • Experience in using a spectrophotometer
  • Ability to use computer associated software, including Microsoft Windows and Office applications
  • Ability to learn computer software packages used within the laboratory (e.g. laboratory information system)
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
