Temporary full-time appointment for a period up to 30 June 2021.
Location: Australian Technology Park, Eveleigh (Redfern), Sydney

 
 
Do you enjoy taking innovative product concepts and bringing them to life in an effort to push the boundaries of user interface design?
 
We are looking for a strong UX/UI specialist to be a part of a major initiative and share in end-to-end product design through discovery, framing and iterative development. The role demands strong product instincts, excellent communication skills and technical fluency. You will work closely with stakeholders to translate concepts into living, breathing prototypes. You will also collaborate closely with UX Engineers to user-test new concepts and assist engineering with the final implementation.
 
About the role
  • Execute design with the use of but not limited to  Figma, Sketch or even Code
  • Work closely with product owners to facilitate workshops to define design concepts
  • Advise, collaborate with, and synthesize feedback from designers and developers
  • Maintain a user-cantered approach in design perspective and practice and support end-to-end product design through discovery, framing and iterative development and delivery
  • Stay up-to-date on the current and best UI and visual design practices and trends

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated experience in conducting formal usability testing and supporting user acceptance testing

  • A digital portfolio demonstrating a variety of user-centric UI design solutions that deliver strategic outcomes and business objectives

  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly design and iterate on prototypes

  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies

  • Hold a valid clearance to work with Children (Working with Children Check)


 
Highly Desirable Skills:
  • 3+ years of experience in UX/UI design with strong knowledge of responsive design & implementation

  • Strong technical design sense across the big picture through to the detail

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating a variety of user-centric design solutions
  • Experience in Adobe suite and an expert user of Sketch, Figma or XD
  • Experience in websites/applications UI design
  • Ability to build and present design concepts, wireframes, content diagrams and prototypes
  • Experience on Mobile / Web Applications design

  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript

  • An established, repeatable and shareable design process that encourages collaboration between other designers and product teams

  • Ability to communicate design effectively, regardless of the audience (engineers, PMs, executives, other designers, etc.)

  • Experience designing WCAG compliant websites/applications for government clients (Level AA)

  • Experience working within a global experience language or similar (i.e. comprehensive pattern libraries)
