Assistant Accountant

The Position
  
This position involves a variety of responsibilities including: assisting with the month end process (reporting and balance sheet reconciliations), statutory and taxation returns, and assisting with the maintenance of the fixed asset register for Australia and New Zealand. This role also provides key support in assisting the team with the processing and maintenance of Business Partner data.
   
Responsibilities:
  • Managing the fixed assets investment process, recording and reporting
  • Monthly/quarterly Head Office reporting
  • Monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts
  • Performing month end duties and provide month end reports
  • Creating and maintaining Business Partner accounts
  • Assisting with external auditors
  • Assisting in preparation of monthly/annual taxation returns
  • Involvement in continuous improvement projects as guided by the Accounting team
 What we are looking for:
  • Completed Tertiary qualification in Accounting or similar
  • 1 – 2 years demonstrable experience in a Graduate Accountant/Assistant Accountant capacity
  • Willingness to learn Australian and New Zealand accounting and tax rules
  • Demonstrable reconciliation skills and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Exposure to fixed asset control and asset management
  • A strong eye for detail & high level of organisational skills
  • Self-motivated attitude, with flexibility to jump from one task to another and meet deadlines in the face of competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills are a must, as is the ability to work effectively across the organisation
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and any large ERP/Business System. 
  • Exposure to an ERP system (experience in AS400 and or SAP would be advantageous)
