Road Worker
Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.
About the team & Opportunity
The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.
Right now, we have an opportunity for a Road Worker to join us in the Regional Maintenance Delivery team in Broken Hill. Our crews consists of road workers, team leaders, plant operators and truck drivers, operating across the district under road maintenance projects.
What you will be involved in
You'll be undertaking a range of duties to support the efficient construction and maintenance of road infrastructure within New South Wales.
You’ll have a range of duties across construction and maintenance activities including but not limited to:
- maintenance of established pavements
- construction of new or enhanced pavements
- establishment and maintenance of roadside fixtures and signage
- application of road marking materials
- application of bituminous sealing materials
- establishment and maintenance of traffic signals and driver aid devices
- cleaning and hazard removal from the road environment
Road Workers are provided with thorough training and opportunities to develop professionally.
The successful applicant may be required to work outside normal working hours, attend after hour call-outs, and be prepared to travel throughout the state and work at locations away from the base station.
About you
We’re seeking a resilient and proactive workers in the industry who are used to working in teams and independently across remote climates and are ready to give their work and team 100%.
You are a quick learner and get along easily with team mates and members of public. You also enjoy being physically active performing outdoor manual tasks involving the use of hand tools and equipment. You hold a White Card, current driver licence, traffic control tickets, and are able to work outside normal working hours, attend call-outs, travel across the region and stay away from home when needed.

Wage and Benefits
The wage for this position is Road Worker Grade 1-3 ($1132.20 - $ 1193.09) per week plus superannuation.
