Western Diagnostic Pathology (WDP) is a leading provider of pathology and medical diagnostic services to doctors, specialists and hospitals throughout Western Australia and the Northern Territory.  We have 10 medical laboratories across the region, more than 200 collection sites, and a team of nearly 1000 people who provide quality care to patients, and accurate and timely results to medical practitioners.

About the position:

WDP has an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our busy team in Darwin, NT.  This is a 12-month fixed-term, full-time position, working 75 hours per fortnight.  The successful applicant will possess the flexibility to participate in a rotating roster including morning, afternoon, night and weekend shifts as well as public holidays. 

About you:

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to understand technical information
  • Ability to triage workload and attend to multiple tasks                                   
  • Attention to detail and ability to perform work with a high degree of precision and accuracy

As a minimum it is a requirement for applicants to hold the following qualifications:

  • Diploma of Laboratory Technology or equivalent.

It would also be advantageous for applicants to have the following skills:

  • Experience in a Pathology Laboratory environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in Molecular Microbiology
