The Role
The Women's Advocate develops and delivers a range of services to maximise the safety and support of women who have ex/partners in Communicare's Men's Behaviour Change programs.
This role is responsible for the provision of specialist assessments, support plans, telephone interventions, in person support, information delivery, advocacy and referral for clients in the directorate, as well as identifying, assessing and responding to safety issues as they relate to victims of family violence.
This position builds respectful and effective relationships with women and program staff to build safety and connect women into appropriate services and supports and assists in the development of policy and procedures to ensure best practice delivery of interventions and case management delivered by Family Violence and Intervention Services.
Skills and Experience
The successful applicant will possess:
- Tertiary qualification in the human services field, and or significant experience in family and domestic violence.
- Ability to build effective relationships at all levels, be non-judgemental.
- Experience providing risk assessment, safety planning, individual, group work and case management at a high level.
- Demonstrated time management and task management skills, and ability to work under limited direction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and public speaking skills.
- Unrestricted drivers licence.
- Satisfactory Police clearance (not older than 6 months from the issue date).
- Current working with children check card.
