About the Role

ABC Regional & Local is looking for a highly motivated, multi-skilled content maker as Reporter, Rural, Dubbo.

You’ll capture the progress, the success and the challenges of our diverse primary industry regions. From the Mudgee Valley’s viticulture, the livestock industry’s changing environment and the large scale production of grain, cotton and fruit. Mixed with a big coal industry and the fastest growing renewable sector of the state, you’ll have endless stories to tell across the ABC.

You're  creative, highly organised and able to weave a good yarn for radio, digital, social media. You'll love coming to work and connecting with our audience across Western NSW.

Reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will be responsible for;

  • Creating rural and primary industry content for multiple platforms to engage local and national audiences. 
  • Preparing and presenting content for the Rural Report and Country Hour, plus other key programs including ABC’s 7pm bulletin and News Channel.
  • Contributing new ideas for content and its distribution to increase audience reach and engagement.

About You

We are looking for a dynamic Rural Reporter with experience across the creation of content for radio and online. You will be able to demonstrate that you have;

  • Accomplished editorial skills, ability to source and analyse content and exercising sound judgment
  • A creative approach to content construction and delivery
  • Experience in live presentation and broadcast.
  • Demonstrated understanding and passion to source and create authentic content which represents the broad diversity of the Australian community, including stories that reflect a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds and Indigenous communities where editorially relevant
  • Able to travel to remote locations when required
