Surface Water Engineer/Hydrologist

Due to the continuous success of our Asia Pacific operations, we currently have an exciting opportunities for a Surface Water Engineer/Hydrologist to join our Sydney Transport Infrastructure team.

Your knowledge of drainage standards and specifications and other relevant Australian standards will enable you to perform significant tasks including:

  • Undertaking hydrological and hydraulic assessments within highways, rail and civil projects
  • Providing a high quality technical capability to successfully support projects with a hydrological focus
  • Providing technical experience in stormwater and flood risk management, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, drainage design and water sensitive urban design.
  • Undertaking water quality measures for roads and civil projects.
  • Liaising with drafters for the production of the design drawings.
  • Understanding and application of ARR 2019 guidelines.
  • Assisting in developing less experienced engineers in a collaborative team environment

The successful candidate will ideally possess the following experience and qualities:

  • Proven recent Australian experience within road, rail and drainage projects
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or civil/environmental engineering and tertiary qualification
  • 3+ years post graduate experience, ideally within a consultancy environment
  • Good understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic modelling packages used in the design of pavement drainage, cross drainage and flood analysis, ancillary drainage items such as scour protection and water quality control.
  • Experience in multiple software packages, including hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software (XP-RAFTS, WBMN and TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, MIKE), drainage design (12D and DRAINS) and Water Quality modelling (MUSIC) is highly desirable.
  • Understanding and application of ARR 2019 guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of TfNSW Digital Engineering requirements, use of Civils 3D dynamo and/or 12D macros and python coding is advantageous
  • Working towards CPEng qualification is derisible, and fully supported by WSP
  • Strong analytical technical report writing skills.
