CAD Manager
Our Melbourne office is looking for a CAD Manager with a high level of experience in infrastructure projects to lead a small CAD team working on various road and rail projects throughout Victoria.
As the CAD Manager you will be responsible for planning and supervising the resources and activities of our CAD department, in addition the role will see you producing drawings as required to support projects and the team.
Reporting to the Technical Director, the key responsibilities of this role include:
* Preparation of Civil engineering drawings, sketches and related documentation
* Ensure work output is of a technically high standard, while meeting budgeted times and costs
* Liaison with engineers, designers and project managers to ensure work output meets client needs
* Provide mentoring and support to continue the development of staff within the team
* Managing and coordinating a small team of drafters on road and rail projects
* Review and checking of drawings and CAD models including meeting all QA requirements
* Recruitment, performance management and training of staff.

The successful candidate will have:
* Minimum of ten years demonstrated drafting experience, preferably within a consulting environment
* Extensive knowledge of Microstation and AutoCAD
* Basic knowledge of design software including 12d, InRoads and Civil3D Experience in managing a drafting team
* Experience in a digital engineering environment
* Experience in the use of common BIM technologies in project delivery will be an advantage
* Ability to assist with document control procedures
* Demonstrated high level knowledge and experience in VicRoads drafting requirements
* Experience with Australian major road and rail authorities including Department of Transport, MTM, RPV and VicRail
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
* A commitment to self-improvement and continuing professional development
* Ability to work collaboratively with others (Project Managers, Engineers and Designers) in a team environment to resolve design/drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish best for project objectives
* Ability to verify accuracy and completeness of all deliverable CAD products and services
* Ability to identify the needs and professional development requirements for CAD operators to ensure skills match project needs
* Knowledge to answer questions from managers and staff on CAD standards and proficiency of CAD users
* Ability to work flexible hours, occasionally in excess of a normal schedule
* Leadership skills needed to supervise and assist the technical work of less experienced designers and/or drafters who share in the design effort.
