Mildura Base Public Hospital (MBPH) was established as a new entity in September 2020. MBPH is a leading healthcare provider in the north west of Victoria, known for its high level of professionalism, quality care and community engagement. 

MBPH provides a range of acute services in emergency, maternity, intensive care, rehabilitation, community services, psychiatric in and outpatient care, palliative care, renal dialysis and chemotherapy service to the people of North West Victoria. About the Role: 

The Emergency Department supports the wider Mildura population and treats both adults and children. The ED consists of 18 acute and 8 short stay beds. It also contains 2 Resuscitation bays and provides emergency care to around 35,000 presentations annually. The position will require you to have flexibility and be prepared to work a mixed roster, which will include days, afternoons, nights, weekends and public holidays.

This integral leadership role will see you lead and manage the ward in the absence of the NUM, and assisting the NUM in the course of their duties. This will include facilitating patient admissions and discharges, liaising with the multi-disciplinary team, maintenance of patient files and documentation, and establishing rapport with patients and their family. 

About You:

As a registered nurse, you will have AHPRA registration and extensive clinical skills and experience within the medical field (preferably 2 years clinical nursing experience). Ideally, you will have demonstrated leadership, people and conflict management skills, together with attention to detail and continuous improvement capabilities. You will be available to work a mixture of shifts, which will include weekdays, weekends and public holidays.

  • a focus on time management and good communication skills
  • knowledge of legislative requirements and relevant professional practice
  • demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development 
  • positive self-awareness and with a caring and nurturing personality
