The Organisation

Mildura Base Public Hospital is a 172-bed (level 1) tertiary teaching hospital, offering services to both public and private patients providing public hospital services on behalf of the Victorian Government to the community of Mildura and the Sunraysia District.

The hospital is a major public referral service for the Northern Mallee region providing services to approximately 80,000 people, treating over 20,000 inpatients and triaging more than 33,000 emergency attendees, and 850 births.

Our mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of our community by providing quality health services, with care, compassion and skill, genuinely recognising that to deliver quality care starts at the top of the organisation and is reflected in every staffing cohort.  

The Paediatric – Surgical Ward (Ward 6) at Mildura Base Public Hospital (MBPH) is a 24-bed unit, with 16 beds for adult surgical patients and 8 dedicated paediatric beds.

The Paediatric Wing is a brand new and state of the art facility designed for assessment, observation and treatment of paediatric and neonatal patients. 

Ward 6 is supported by a Nurse Educator and Clinical Support Nurse. 

When applicable, short term accommodation is available to new staff.

The Paediatrics / Surgical Ward is a dynamic team environment aimed at providing the highest quality of care for all. We are looking for Registered Nurses who are ready to join a vibrant community and work collaboratively with other team members, so that together our hospital is able to provide exceptional care for our prime focus, the patient.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of scope of practice in line with relevant registration
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required.
  • Relevant nursing experience
