Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
The purpose of this role is to ensure Waka Kotahi's strategic goals are optimised by evolving effective Enterprise Data Management through the use of enterprise data standards for data warehousing and other corporate databases
You will be responsible for defining and maintaining an ‘as is' data architecture; including data models, business data definitions and other metadata. Along with that you will maintain an enterprise data architecture including a corporate view of data assets with high level data models, data dictionary, policies and standards. The key role involves ensuring the enterprise data architecture is effectively operationalised in providing data architecture services into governance groups, new projects, continuous improvement work, and evolving business initiatives.
You will have excellent stakeholder management skills, engaging with projects and programmes, external vendors and provide advice on Data Architecture. It's a continuously evolving environment with wide variety of data resources that need to be architected, modelled and managed in relation to Waka Kotahi's responsibility to National Transport systems.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- 5 or more years' experience as a data architect
- Extensive experience working with large scale databases
- Good understanding of relational database (RDBMS) and associated database design and management
- Conceptual analysis and design ability
- Data management practices and technologies
- Well versed in data warehousing concepts and issues
- Working experience with both on-premise, public cloud and SAS hosted databases
- Knowledge or experience in using Power Designer is desirable

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
