About the company
Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Federal Government Agency to engage an APS6 Communications Manager. This position is located in their busy Melbourne/Cairns/Brisbane/Sydney/Adelaide/Perth office for an initial contract until 30/06/2022 + extensions.
 
Duties
  • Providing expert communication advice,
  • Developing a media and communication strategy, where required,
  • Providing input into briefings 
  • Facilitating information flow between key internal and any external stakeholders,
  • Collaborating with media and communications officers/teams
  • Organising and coordinating the range of media and communication activities
  • Ensuring that department communication policy and processes are used
  • Preparing updates for media and response activities, and
  • Coordinating interviews and any other media related activities.

Requirements/Skills

  • Australian Citizenship & drivers licence
  • Staff require an ability to work out of hours  
  • Experience with working in Incident Control Centres, ideally for biosecurity incidents (highly desirable) 
  • Some demonstrated knowledge of the national plant (or animal or aquatic) health surveillance network (desirable)
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Experience in using a variety of internal and external communication channels
  • Tertiary qualifications or significant relevant experience in media and communications
