We are seeking a number of experienced and personable Claims Officers to join our client who is a Federal Government Agency. The position would perfectly suit someone who has case management or insurance/claims experience, who is wanting to further their career within the public sector.

This is an APS4 equivalent level contract position until June 2022 with the possibility of extension. 
 
The Role and Responsibilities
 
The role will involve managing a caseload of claims at various stages of compensation benefits to eligible clients. You will be required to exercise your judgement to make determinations based on gathered evidence and the application of relevant legislation. There is a significant degree of stakeholder engagement, and the highest level of customer service is essential.
 
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • End to end management of claims
  • Providing a direct service to clients, including other government departments and agencies
  • Providing accurate information on the range of benefits and services provided by the client either by telephone in-person
  • Responding to incoming mail and electronic correspondence
  • Handling escalated enquiries; and
  • Data entry into an in-house information management system
 
About You 

Effective communication and the ability to build positive working relationships with relevant stakeholders will be critical to your success in this role.  

In addition, you will demonstrate the following:
  • Previous experience in claims/case management
  • The proven ability to understand complex information and work under legislative frameworks
  • The ability to pick up information quickly and accept on the job feedback 
  • Excellent computer skills / the ability to learn new systems
  • Respond to queries in an efficient and professional manner
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be resilient and handle complex and sensitive enquiries
 
The rewards:
  • An attractive hourly rate of $44 per hour + super (goes up to $50 once accreditation has been achieved)
  • Monday to Friday – full time hours (37.5 hours per week)
