About the business and the role
Redgold is a Horticultural farming company that specialise in growing a range of salad products for delivery across Australia. In order to do this successfully, we rely heavily on a creative and dynamic team of workshop staff to design, build and maintain farm equipment to best practice in the industry.
We currently have a position available in the team for a skillful trades person to help us commission machines that are efficient, safe and reliable. This requires good workmanship and a broad general knowledge of workshop trades. Of particular interest are skills in Machining and Automotive Electrical.
With our team of long term staff working particularly well together, it makes for a great workplace where everyone helps each other out and welcomes new members.
The farm is based on the banks of the Murray River, between Mildura and Robinvale.
One month of on-site accommodation can be included, to allow time for the successful candidate to settle into the area.
Work days and weekly hours can be tailored to suit individual or family needs. Long hours are also available for those looking to save, with up to 60hrs/week available should you choose to.
Job tasks and responsibilities
This is certainly not a role where you will be doing the same thing every day. The huge variety of different machines, different stages of builds and different skills needed will ensure that tasks are always dynamic and unique, making for a very interesting career.
A sample of our equipment to be designed and maintained includes custom self propelled sprayers, harvesters, irrigation machines and custom harvest aid trailers. Plus the typical farm asset maintenance list of tractors, gen-sets, forklifts, road grader, front-end-loader, utes, motorbikes and passenger vehicles.
The candidate will be working in a busy environment and will need to manage progress of longer-term improvement projects, in between providing quick breakdown responses to operations when needed.
There are existing people and systems in place already to assist you in managing this role.
Skills and experience
Preference is to those with an existing trade qualification.
A farming background will significantly improve candidates chances of being suitable to the role, but is not mandatory.
Applicants should be either an Australian resident, or have appropriate visas to accommodate this full time position.
A drivers license is required.
Job benefits and perks
Come and work with a great team, in a busy environment at a time when the business is experiencing growth.
Then after work, head down to the river for a fish or a swim!
