We are looking for an enthusiastic Publicist to join our team based in North Sydney. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a truly creative and collaborative environment at one of Australia's most dynamic publishers.
You will develop, implement and manage innovative publicity campaigns for locally and internationally renowned authors. You will incorporate integrated media strategies to effectively promote and publicise books across all media platforms, and use a broad range of communication including press releases, phone pitching, and content marketing.
Both planned and reactive campaigns will be under your remit and the ability to spot consumer signals, identify trends and pitch books and authors accordingly will be key to success.
This role calls for an enthusiastic and curious thinker, who is able to work on both long lead times and on projects at a short notice. The ideal candidate will have exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at one time. They will be well versed in what is making news and what is in the Zeitgeist, and be able to make connections between these trends and publicity opportunities. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and a proven ability to facilitate strong relationships across a range of stakeholders is key.
You will have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar Publicist role, preferably in the Arts sector, and a strong understanding of national and regional print, broadcast and online media. You will have a passion for books and reading and have a keen interest in/knowledge of Australian new and emerging media.
In order to be successful in this role the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
- The ability to work quickly and get projects (pitches) off the ground with short notice
- Willing to manage a diverse range of publicity campaigns and being enthusiastic about tracking sales and celebrating successes
- A 'can do' attitude paired with a curiosity for trying new ways of doing things
