Covering nearly 325,000 sq km, Barkly Regional Council is Australia's second largest local government area and home to 8,100 residents with a central administration and population hub located at Tennant Creek and the surrounding district and outstations. The region combines a strong indigenous heritage with a vibrant, ethnically diverse community and an economic foundation built on a globally renowned mining sector and rapidly growing tourism industry.

Council is currently looking for a visionary CEO with the focus and drive to take the region forward and inspire others to contribute and collaborate on the journey. You will be coming into an environment that is financially strong, future focused and ambitious - and your key objective will be to build on this optimism and opportunity and help develop a long term, sustainable future. New, innovative thinking, collaboration and accountability will all play a major role, as will sound strategic planning, broad-ranging stakeholder engagement and staff development.

You have an exceptional executive-level track record leading and managing in Local Government environments where the focus was on complex service delivery within culturally diverse settings. You blend commercial and financial smart thinking with the diplomacy and sensitivity to quickly build credibility and trust with a wide, sometimes challenging range of stakeholders - including indigenous communities and all levels of government. As a leader, you are all about inspiring teams, building 'can-do' attitudes and instilling the power of collaboration.

For an ambitious executive who thrives on immersing themselves in their community, this is one of the most challenging and rewarding roles currently on offer with the Local Government sector.
