Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced MC licensed PM SHIFT YARD TUG driver based in the western suburbs, to undertake yard duties - predominantly tasked with coupling trailers and trucks, docking trailers for preloading on our cross dock and organising the trailer yard.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced yard tug driver to take control of the yard operation and make it their own.

Afternoon Shift rate 

Sunday – average 7 hours: Start 10:00 – Finish 17:00 (OPTIONAL) 

Monday to Friday – average 10 hours: Start 14:00 – Finish 00:00

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Day to day operation of a multi and or heavy combination vehicle.
  • Hook and unhook B-Doubles and Singles daily
  • Docking trailers for unloads/preloads
  •  Manage the trailer movements in the Truganina Depot
  • Complying with the Sargeant Transport coupling & uncoupling trailers and tug test procedures.
  •  Washout vans as required
  •  Compile list of trucks and trailers daily
  • Adhering to the Driver Manual and customer safety goals in direct areas of responsibility and adhering to all relevant OH&S legislative, policy and procedural requirements.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience (refrigeration experience highly desirable).
  • Extensive experience with coupling and uncoupling trailers, setting up Double & or Semi' combinations.
  • Good understanding of load restraint.
  • Possess an MC Licence.
  • Good communication, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Good knowledge of Chain of Responsibility and road transport legislation.
  • Mature attitude with the ability to work independently.
