About the Project

The Monash Freeway is in Melbourne’s fast growing south east and outer south-east region and the $761M design and construct project will expand the Monash from eight to 10 lanes slashing nearly ten minutes off the morning peak hour commute and better connect the Monash to Eastlink.

Works include the addition of 36 kilometres of new lanes to the Monash Freeway, upgrading the Beaconsfield interchange with new freeway ramps, the extension and widening of O’Shea Road and the roll out of the Freeway Lane Management System to better manage traffic flows.

Construction commenced early 2020 and is due for completion in 2022.

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking applications for the position of Senior Surveyor to assist the delivery team in coordination of survey works that will enable efficient and timely delivery of the project.  To further assist by managing survey activities in order to fulfil contract requirements. The role will require interface with design, delivery and sub-contract teams and provision of data management including design verification, as-builts, machine control modelling and conformance.

As Senior Surveyor, you will be accountable for:

Management of the project survey control network, identifying levels of accuracy and methods used as per contract requirements.

Assist in leading the delivery of accurate, timely and responsive surveying services ensuring the that the design is checked, and any potential design faults are identified

Ensuring works are accurately surveyed and clear and concise set out is provided in accordance with the project standard survey procedures and with the contract drawings.

To provide surveillance of sub-contractor procedures and field methods to maintain a high standard in line with the Survey Management Plan.

Identifying, planning and promoting the use of the best equipment and methods for each application.

Ensuring survey equipment calibration and service records are maintained according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Ensuring that survey data is recorded and stored as per the project’s Survey Management Plan (SMP)

Compliance with the project’s settlement monitoring regime.

Ensuring the production of timely and accurate “As Built” Survey reports.

Proactively develop strategies and implement approved procedures for achieving the project survey requirements.

Establish and maintain survey procedures (outlined in the SMP), equipment, software, design models and controls throughout the project to meet the project’s survey requirements.

To liaise with the Delivery team in order to understand project requirements, vet all survey requests and minimise overuse of survey in order to meet budget expectations.

To innovate whenever possible.

Lead and develop an effective and productive team.

Manage and report against the survey budget


Requirements for this role are:

Recognised Degree in Surveying or other relevant Tertiary Qualification

Minimum 5 Years’ experience as a Qualified Surveyor having worked on large civil infrastructure projects

Proven experience working at senior or management level

Effective problem-solving techniques and skills

Ability to plan and achieve work outcomes

Experience with various computer and surveying software
