The position 

As the Project Process Engineer you will be accountable for the successful achievement of projects. This will require a hands-on management approach in all related areas involving the effective leadership and facilitation of projects. 

 The core responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Co-ordinate the development of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Develop a project plan to monitor and track progress.
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  • All projects are completed to the appropriate professional standards and meet applicable regulatory, engineering standards and internal specifications.
  • All projects are completed within the agreed schedule and within budget in a cost effective manner.
  • All projects are implemented without any recordable injuries or environmental reportable events.
  • Perform technical investigations and analysis.
  • Co-ordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the effective execution of projects.
  • Facilitate weekly progress meetings with external and internal parties, as required.
  • Issue requests for quotation, evaluate tenders and select vendors.
  • Place orders for equipment and update project cost information accordingly.
  • Track delivery of ordered equipment to site against anticipated and scheduled delivery dates. Periodically request progress updates from suppliers. Liaise with team members to ensure equipment is delivered on schedule and to required specifications.
  • Perform general engineering design and review on a case by case basis (i.e. vent sizing, pipeline sizing, relief valve specifications, etc.).
  • Develop construction/inspection test plans (ITPs) and appropriate structural, mechanical & piping commissioning documentation, as required.

The successful candidate 

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has:

  • Formal qualification in Chemical Engineering is essential
  • Preferably a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the chemical manufacturing and tank terminal industries. 
  • Demonstrated experience in project management preferably in the chemical manufacturing and tank terminals industries. 
  • Proficient in MS Office suite.
  • Self‐motivated with sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to make decisions. 
  • Ability to assess, priorities and manage multiple activities/projects is essential.
