As Internal Communications Advisor you’ll establish relationships across Hume City Council and develop and execute critical internal communications that have an impact.

You’ll be a champion for the big picture, working closely with stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of their challenges. You will support critical projects that protect and enhance Hume's reputation with the community and enable people to work more effectively together.

You will undertake a range of tasks including (but not limited to):
  • Research, plan, deliver and evaluate internal communication campaigns to improve staff awareness of Hume City, Council and its services, facilities, events and activities.

  • Proactively engage with staff members to understand any issues and concerns, and develop strong and trusting relationships
  • Provide advice, support and training across the organisation on the effective use of internal communications
  • Facilitate effective internal communication on activities that relate to Council’s organisational culture, including Reward and Recognition, Council Plan, Hume Horizons, Service Planning and the Hume Values
  • Support the effective employer branding of Hume City Council as a leader in local government and an employer of choice.
About you

With your flare for internal engagement, you will create innovative ways to engage, inform and facilitate opportunity for all employees that will add value to decision-making, protect organisational culture and inform the best outcome for Hume City Council.

You are a strong storyteller with a critical eye for detail, you’ll thrive in a complex and fast-moving environment, and stay calm under pressure while juggling multiple projects and tight deadlines.

You’ll form a strong partnership with the Coordinator, Internal Communications to support the tactical execution of Council’s annual strategic internal communications plan.

You will know that you are right to be considered for this role if your CV shows the following:

• Experience in internal communications
• A track record in large and complex work settings
• Excellent writing skills
• Availability to work soon in a 12 month role
• Relevant tertiary experience.
