Company Overview

Duxton Vineyards are a privately owned company, which owns two of the largest vineyards in Australia within its vineyard portfolio. With over 2000 hectares of vines and 24 different grape varieties its vineyards produce 22% of fruit that comes out of the Sunraysia area and over 4% of the national crush annually. Duxton Vineyards supply fruit to most of the large wine companies and it also produces wine to be sold locally and to international markets.

Purpose of the Role

Duxton Vineyards have several hands-on positions based at our Euston/Balranald farm, you will be involved in all facets of daily vineyard maintenance and machinery operation/maintenance to harvest high production, quality fruit.  You will be a mechanically minded individual that will work as a part of a team delivering the operational requirements of the vineyard.  You will work in an environment where a strong workplace health and safety culture is embraced. Due to the remote location of the farm, there may be accommodation available to the right candidate/s.

Key Responsibilities

  • General maintenance of plant and equipment.
  • Daily prestart checks of plant and equipment including keeping records up to date.
  • Assist in scheduling a preventative maintenance program for all equipment.
  • Day to day operation of machinery in the vineyard.
  • Day to day vineyard operations including but not limited to;
    • Pruning/vine training and canopy management.
    • Pest, disease and weed management.
    • Accurate record keeping of spray applications as required.
  • Participate and assist in implementing a culture of safety in the vineyard.
  • Follow Work Health and Safety procedures and company policies.
  • Conduct all workplace tasks with Duxton Vineyards environmental & sustainability commitments front of mind, including ensuring compliance to any relevant environmental laws and compliance obligations.

For this role you will need;

  • Experience and knowledge in heavy vehicle/vineyard machinery
  • Have experience and knowledge of operating vineyard machinery
  • Chemical User Permit or willingness to complete.
  • Good communication and time management skills
  • Be able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Flexible/adaptable/Reliable
