The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Customer Service Officer to join one of Australia's leading transport and logistics service providers in Hobart.

The primary responsibilities for the role

  • Provide administration and clerical support across the branch's operation
  • Maintain filing, systems, registers, and other records
  • Maintain computer-based information, data systems and generate reports/picks/invoices as required
  • Aid our valued customers by providing delivery eta's, pick up requests and directing them to the appropriate service personnel.
  • Auditing and processing of transport logs which includes investigating discrepancies to a satisfactory resolution
  • Following through on delivery ETAs and ensuring they are delivered on time as requested or arranging alternatives for the customer and maintaining a high level of communication.
  • Monitoring due dates via generated reporting on Toll works and chasing up late consignments or missing PODs.
  • Setting appointment dates for booking customers.
  • Providing back up support to the other Customer Service team members and learning the pallet control process and tasks involved to provide relief to the pallet controller.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of work processes

Skills essential to the job

  • High level of computer literacy and advanced use of Microsoft suite of products
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to create business improvements - reviewing current practices and workflows.
  • Efficient time management skills
  • Initiative - ability to look to the future, create opportunities and minimise potential issues
  • Familiarity with KPI's and use to monitor and manage
  • Ability to understand key customer requirements and how Toll Tasmania can best service their needs and requirements.
  • Ability to understand Toll IT support systems, and the user level application to Toll Tasmania
  • Understanding of Toll applications & software, including TollWorks & Unibis.
  • Basic understanding of Toll's logistical operations (and Toll as a whole) and its core business units
  • Commercial understanding of the importance of meeting customers contractual requirements
  • Understanding of Toll's "Safety Obsessed" cultural identity
