About the Role

Based in our modern offices in Subiaco and reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Controller has overall accountability for accurate and timely statutory and regulatory financial reporting for the Amana Living consolidated group, tax compliance and the preparation of monthly management and board reports, annual budgets, and quarterly forecasts. The Financial Controller oversees all aspects of the finance function, encompassing financial and statutory accounting, management accounting, taxation, treasury and liquidity management, accounts payable and accounts receivable. 

In addition to this, the Financial Controller provides coaching and support to the Finance team, contributing to the overall culture of inclusiveness, collaboration, and teamwork, and playing a key role in maintaining Amana Living’s Philosophy of Care and in living the 3Rs culture.

Core Responsibilities:

  • overall responsibility for the effective leadership of the Finance team, developing, coaching, and engaging a high performing team
  • foster an environment of continuous improvement, leading through innovation
  • accurate and timely delivery of all regulatory and statutory reporting and returns
  • review and approval of all applicable taxation returns and related matters
  • lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with the General Managers and operational leads
  • accountable for the preparation of quarterly financial forecasts for presentation to the Board and Executive Leadership team
  • establishment and oversight of Amana Living’s treasury function; responsible for liquidity management, investment management and cash flow forecasting
  • overall accountability for accounting policies including in relation to fixed and capital asset management
  • establish and maintain a strong internal control environment; ensure a strong risk management culture is maintained within finance

Who we are looking for:

  • A strong and influential leader with demonstrated experience in building high performing teams
  • 10+ years’ experience in a similar leadership role within a finance function
  • CA / CPA qualified or Australian recognised equivalent with relevant professional memberships and relevant tertiary qualification
  • strong technical accounting knowledge and skills, demonstrated through prior experience in a similar role
  • experience in a similar role within a commercial setting highly desirable
  • strategic thinker with influence and impact
  • excellent oral and written communication skills
  • exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills; attentive to detail
  • current police clearance (or willing to obtain) and other key personnel compliance requirements
