OBJECTIVES OF POSITION

The People and Culture Manager is a dynamic, people focused growth leader who can work as a trusted and strategic support to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Board of Directors, executive and management teams.

 

SUMMARY OF POSITION

This position is to build strong relationships and be responsible for the People and Culture strategy, recruitment, implementing and overseeing the people, culture and talent, ensuring our key values and purpose driven by our Strategic Plan are upheld. The position will have a pivotal role in the organisations strategic workforce planning, as well as in driving improvement of standards through systematic and effective staff learning and development program.

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities of your role

Ensure all employment practices comply with national, state and local regulations.

Report to the CEO and provide decision support through human resources metrics, staff surveys, etc. 

Advise the CEO on workforce risks, issues and opportunities.

Manage human resources issues including staff queries, remuneration changes and EBA interpretations.

Support and advise Managers and Coordinators on issues and procedures related to human resources management, including discipline, performance appraisal, performance management, mediation, grievances and staff welfare.

Manage high-level staff investigations, using independent third-party investigators where indicated.

Manage and coordinate the staff recruitment, selection and induction strategy and process.

Promote the use of our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and provide the CEO with a regular update on its usage.

Ensure a systematic program of staff learning and development.

Manage and coordinate the organisations staff learning and development program.

Promote the organisational values and foster a positive working environment and culture.

Work with the Executive team to develop the Diversity Action Plan and lead the implementation of this plan.

Ensure all human resource-related policies, procedures and forms (including position descriptions) are current, accurate and compliant with relevant national, state and local laws for all positions, and use organisational template for branding consistency. 

Lead staff Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) drafting, negotiations and interpretations.

Represent Barunga Village at Fair Work Commission.

Ensure all mandatory/statutory workforce reporting requirements are met.

Attend relevant meetings of functional groups and as required, Board meeting.

Work, health and safety

Ensure that work, health and safety policies and procedures are administered in accordance with the Work, Health and Safety Act. 

Contribute to the review and development of policies and procedures for work, health and safety.

Identify areas of workplace health and safety which can be improved, make recommendations and/or implement safe work procedures and practices.

Assist in the rehabilitation of injured employees.

Encourage and facilitate harmonious staff relations.

Quality improvement

Review policies and procedures and ensure that all processes are carried out as per the policies and procedures of Barunga Village.

Ensure that all processes meet the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissions Standards.

Participate in the Quality committee and all associated activities designed to maintain or improve the organisations quality of services.

Ensure the performance of all contractors meets the consumers expectations.

Other

Any ad-hoc duties as directed by the CEO.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Essential qualifications and experience

Detailed knowledge of Fair Work Act.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.

Ability to collaborate effectively with staff at all levels.

Demonstrated ability to negotiate successful outcomes.

Retains (or willing to obtain) a current Return to Work (RTW) certificate in South Australia.

Desirable qualifications and experience

Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or other relevant business field.

Core competencies

Resilient, proactive, positive and solutions-focused approach and mindset.

Proven ability to successfully operate with flexibility in an environment of change and growth.

Proven ability to develop and maintain strong, respectful and effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels, to foster collaboration.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to train, present face-to-face to groups.

Experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects at one time from start to finish.

 

CONDITIONS

Must provide a NDIS worker screening clearance that is dated not more than five years old to enable the assessment of whether the employee is suitable to provide care under the Aged Care Act. 

Must comply with having annual flu vaccination and be fully immunised against COVID-19.

Must sign a statutory declaration to identify serious criminal activity committed outside of Australia.

Must pass a pre-capacity health assessment to ensure physical fitness level is appropriate for duties.

Must comply with Barunga Village’s Code of Conduct.

 

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

A current driver’s licence.
