OBJECTIVES OF POSITION
Provide direct support to clients of Barunga Community Care in their own home or as stipulated in their support plan and may provide respite to the primary caregiver.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Provide support and care described in clients support plan such as personal care, housekeeping support, shopping, respite, social support.

Responsibilities of your role
Follow clients support plan at all times.
Provide active companionship with clients in their own home.
Promote and foster the independence of the client.
Comply with work, health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with the Work, Health and Safety Act 1986.
Advise the Client Liaison Officer if support other than that described in the support plan appears necessary.
Report to the Client Liaison Officer any changes observed in the client, the homes safety or other relevant aspects of the home environment.

Adhere to defined work, health and safety policies and procedures related to the work being undertaken in order to ensure own safety and that of others.
To gain specific knowledge of the whistle-blower policy.
Reporting of any possible hazards.
Reporting of any ‘near misses’ and participation in incident/accident investigations as necessary.
Comply with all policies and procedures required of employees.
Participate in all mandatory training programs such as Emergency Response and Manual Handling education as directed.

Undertake further education as appropriate and participate in in-service education as provided by Barunga Village.
Complete all online learning modules as directed.
Takes part in performance appraisals on an annual basis.
Assist in the promotion of the purpose, values and priorities of Barunga Village.
Any other duties commensurate with the employee’s skills and experience as directed by the Community Coordinator.
A level of computer literacy.
Essential qualifications and experience
Desirable qualifications and experience
Certificate lll in Individual Support is desirable but not essential.
Experience in working with older people or those with disability is desirable.
Must attend all training classes as required and demonstrate continuous improvement.
Need to be motivated and demonstrate respect, approachability and consistency.
Ability to act autonomously and function effectively under pressure.
A strong commitment to working with older people or people with disability.
Ability to work in a team and independently.
Willingness to travel to client’s home.
Must provide a NDIS worker screening clearance that is dated not more than five years old to enable the assessment of whether the employee is suitable to provide care under the Aged Care Act.
Must comply with having annual flu vaccination and be fully immunised against COVID-19.
Must sign a statutory declaration to identify serious criminal activity committed outside of Australia.
Must pass a pre-capacity health assessment to ensure physical fitness level is appropriate for duties.
Must comply with Barunga Village’s Code of Conduct.
You must contain a driver’s license, a reliable motor vehicle (safety approved yearly by licensed mechanic) and a smart phone
