This program responds to recent needs of the criminal justice profession, as well as the development of new knowledge and understandings in the social sciences and law, including criminology, sociology and social philosophy. Criminal justice has become increasingly complex, with systemic interactions with social welfare organisations, law and judicial administration, penal and correctional institutions, policing, and family and community. Key parts of the industry and profession, including Victoria Police, have recognised the need for a more highly educated workforce with a developed understanding of the philosophies and objectives of modern criminal justice and the role of various agencies within it.
