Why study this course

This program will teach students how to help people who have trouble communicating and/or swallowing. The course encompasses all aspects of communication including: speech, writing, reading, signs, symbols and gestures. Speech pathologists also work with people who have difficulties swallowing food and drink, such as children with a cleft lip and palate. Clinical placement is offered throughout this speech pathology degree, starting in the first year. Graduates can work with people across the lifespan from babies to adults and in a range of settings including: public and private hospitals, acute care and outpatient facilities, schools, community health centres, early childhood clinics and private practice.
