Overall, the course was not what I expected. If you are interested in in Software development, coding, web development, and programming then this is the course for you. The course is more streamlined into business and software development than technical hands-on experience on computers and other IT equipment. There are no major or minor options if you are taking this course. No hands-on experience on servers, switches, routers or in-dept computer knowledge taught in this course. All theory. If you are interested in the technical side of IT, an engineering course in JCU could be the one to choose - make sure you read the course outline. Otherwise, CQU and few other universities offers the same course with technical hands-on subjects.

It gave me an overview of various technologies, some of it felt quite basic, and the things I studied were quite varied. There was, however, an opportunity to choose elective subjects that would have allowed me to study more of one topic.

The course has allowed me to prepare myself as an IT professional. Using my knowledge, I am able to apply it to personal projects which looks good on my resume and also allows me to practice my skills. Furthermore, the course has opened up paid employment opportunities in addition to my study.
