Why study this course

Kick start your career in horticulture with this entry-level course. This qualification will give you the foundation knowledge needed work with plants. This course will give you the practical skills and knowledge needed to recognise and identify plants, treat weeds, assist with landscape construction work, and propagate plants. Our highly experienced staff are still strongly embedded in the industry and will give you the one-on-one guidance you need to succeed. Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work as a horticultural assistant, or a nursery or garden labourer. You will also get the foundation knowledge needed to undertake further study in this field.

I studied at Grovely campus and found the course to be very informative and an excellent balance of practical and theory. I learned a lot of new skills and loved being able to get outside and some hands on experience. For the most part the teachers were great for advice and encouragement however like with everything, some much more than others. The main downside would be the whole enrolment process as organisation seems quite poor and often you only find out if you’re accepted or not the week before. Trying to contact anyone in the enrolment team via phone can also be a very long process, but overall, I really loved studying this course at TAFE

It was a very nice campus. I had good teachers and I learned a lot about plants. The course helps really you learn about using horticulture in real world jobs.
