What's it like to be a Superintendent?
A Superintendent is a person who manages an organisation or activity. Superintendents commonly work in areas such as building and construction, mining, education, engineering or telecommunications.
Tasks and duties
- Coordinating and controlling operations at a worksite, warehouse or organisation to ensure efficient and effective processes, procedures and actions.
- Reviewing, approving and administering projects and contracts, in addition to providing technical advice and support to employees and managers as required.
- Implementing a high-level understanding of regulatory standards to ensure compliance of statutory guidelines and safety regulations.
How to become a Superintendent
To work as a Superintendent in Australia, you will usually need to have tertiary qualifications in engineering, project management or business management, and/or extensive experience in site-based management roles.
- 1.Hold a tertiary qualification related to the field you wish to work in and gain supervisory experience in your chosen field.
- 2.Investigate whether you also need to have specific requirements such as a White Card, Working at Heights or Confined Spaces.
