The challengesWhere do I start. 6 general managers in 2 years in the 5 star hotel. So no more….In my experience, the workplace culture at Ayers Rock Resort was very challenging and overly rigid, inconsistent and top-down. Decision-making was made by a dictating resort general manager that help probation over the heads of employees daily and highly centralised and clicky, with limited opportunity for staff input, which heavily impacted morale and engagement. A large proportion of the workforce is on short-term international contracts, which made it impossible to build a consistent team culture or sense of community. From an employment perspective, I found the environment demanding and, lacking the supportive leadership and cohesion many hospitality professionals value. The head office is in Sydney and switched off from the realities of the resort. Prospective employees……Don’t Do It!!!
