Allambi was a wonderful company to work for as they were very client centred.
The good thingsI like the unity of employees, youth workers always supported each other
The challengesMore support in serious situations and not expecting a few tolerant people to carry the rest.

Just do it - make a difference
The good thingsFlexibility, inclusion, a really good team culture. I started with Allambi as a youth worker. I love the Framework because it works! I work with some amazing passionate people. I'm now in a Casework Support Officer position, which is an awesome varied role.
The challengesChallenges to me are steppingstones to better productivity. I think our team's resilience makes us stound out in Vic

    It's a company worth recommending
The good thingsI've recommended Allambi to other friends. I think the company does care for children, youth and people with disabilities. There's room for improvement as with any company. I've enjoyed working with the youth and other clients. Most of the people I've worked with have a good heart. Shift work currently suits my lifestyle and it's good pay.
The challengesI think there could be better accountability for people in management.

    Allambi Care Experience
The good thingsI've been with Allambi over 6 years, it has been a really rewarding experience. I started off as a Youth Worker and worked my way up to CSO. There's been a lot of personal and work growth along the way. The support and training are great - lots of refresher courses and development opportunities for both staff and management throughout the year. Its a place that really helps you learn and grow.
The challengesLike any workplace, there are busy days and challenges. The support from the team makes a big difference.

Do the training, work the 6 months then leave. It's really not worth your time or effort.
The good thingsSome of the youth workers are decent. Working with clients and helping them
The challengesImpossible to get a pay rise (other workers that have been there 10-20+ years can't even get one), treated unfairly, workers who do the wrong thing are rewarded, office politics, managers breaking the rules, HR are terrible to deal with (remember they work to protect the company, not support the employees), when rosters stuff up they blame it on you, management and HR refuse to follow the SCHADS award rules and then blame you for knowing your rights when they are wrong, high staff turn over for the above reasons. You get treated like a number. Don't listen to the lies that they are flexible, if you don't fit for what they want you get tossed. They'll protect the client/family in order to keep the highly funded client and burn the employee for doing the right thing, even when lower management gave you the correct advice. Clients are worth a lot more to allambi than an employee, in the end, you don't matter.

    Look elsewhere first.
The good thingsThe only good things I can say is working with some of the clients is so rewarding and also there are some beautiful team members.
The challengesNo work, life, balance. Rosters not flexible. Toxic work placements. Poor management styles on all levels.

Great workplace and support on offer, i could of easily work for Allambi for 5+ years.
The good thingsGreat team members and alot of shifts available. Even better if your on a line with regular staff
The challengesCo-workers who trigger the clients or don't follow through with the rules and allow clients to have their way for them to have a easier shift.

Its a great career change, give it a shot.
The good thingsI have worked at Allambi Care since 2019 and am currently emoloyed as a front line Youth Worker. I thoroughly enjoy working at Allambi, i enjoy the work life balance and working with the young people. As a part time YW with a diploma i am paid 3.1 which i think is reasonable. I find my managers approachable and easy to talk to.
The challengesRostering can be an issue but at the end of the day, i signed up to be a Youth Worker and i understand that the shifts sometimes need to change based on the needs of the clients. A lot of people come to this job and think its going to be a breeze and then when they get a bit of friction they run to Seek to give it a bad wrap. The first 3-6 months are going to be hard, you don't know the kids, they don't know you. Why would they be nice to you? We weren't nice to the casual teacher in the classroom, so why would they be nice to the casual worker in their home?

I have had the best experience at Allambi Care and consider myself lucky to be a valued member of their team.
The good thingsI am very lucky to be working with our young people in OOHC and hope to impact their lives half as much as they’ve impacted mine. Im part of the best team I could ask for, who are incredibly supportive and make work enjoyable everyday. I have access to ongoing training and development opportunities and have been supported to continue my post-graduate education.
The challengesThe nature of the job is challenging, although I wouldn’t have it any other way.

99% of my ongoing duress and stressful experiences were not as a result from client's actions but from Allambi's acceptable toxic management style.
The good thingsDeveloping trust and friendship with clients in order to help them achieve their goals. Youthworkers who go above and beyond for the client's needs. Pretty good life balance once you've secured part time.
The challengesGood case managers are rare and the majority lack any form of people skills when it comes to managing staff. Management seem to take offence to any challenging questions which as a leader, is expected. Countless requests have to be made via email in order to secure client and staff needs but are often ignored by management. Even the experienced case managers lack experience it seems.

Cared about the work but could not continue in the negative environment, disheartening that there was no positive change but great experience to carry onto external opportunities.
The good thingsIt was good experience in a high pressure work environment. A lot of caring youth workers.
The challengesNegative work environment, lack off understanding by middle-upper management. High stress work environment combined with lack of caring, generally resulting in high turnover. Worked to fatigue with no sign of listening or action on the issues. No work satisfaction.

Eye opening experience to diversity in the OOHC sector and learning collaborative practices with external bodies
The good thingsBuilding relationships with your team has been valuable and life changing.
The challengesSenior management availability and commitment to the role creates poor outcomes for child and staff. Care factor to work life balance is low despite the over use of the word flexibility. All aspects of the work is driven from director’s approval on people and if you aren’t bending of backwards to please them, then you won’t succeed.

The good thingsLoved working with the clients and especially mentoring clients,
The challengesGood luck with getting support from case managers and HR You are just a number Rosters except that you are available 24/7 After working full days you will then be asked to go to sleepovers and overnight shifts and expected to say yes If you need time off it’s a problem or a issue, I would suggest your consider all options first

A regretful experience that I wouldn't recommend anyone to take on.
The good thingsSome of the staff were fantastic. Unfortunately the good workers end up leaving. Management never listen to issues.

A few good learning experiences, but in the end you're just a number. They don't value staff and the contribution they make to the organisation and believe most staff are easily replaced.
The good thingsMet some great people along the way.
The challengesThe poor culture, where Managers can target staff but is justified by Senior Management and constantly overlooked. Extremely high rates of unqualified staff, especially in management positions. No work/life balance or flexibility for your own family.

The good thingsI met lots of great people, however the good hard working people never stick around - they get out when they can.
The challengesManagement and constantly feeling like you were being targeted. No leadership only managers making pretty bad calls without collaboration. Staff are treated like cattle - not human beings.

Not worth it. Look at other companies first. The company does not care about the clients or the employees and their safety.
The good thingsProviding care to the children/youth in care and assisting them with tasks, developing life skills, building a relationship and being a positive role model.
The challengesHuman Resources are horrible to deal with and don't help the employees or the children. Majority of Case workers/case managers do not return phone calls.

It was overall a great experience, it was fun, it was caring & an eye opener.
The good thingsI enjoyed the people and the experience that Allambi provided to me. I was happy with the way I was treated and felt as though I was not micro managed and that I was trusted and capable of doing my duties on my own.
The challengesI rather enjoyed my roles at Allambi Care, the challenged in side my role was to seek suitable candidates for the Youth Worker vacancies and to fill a large amount of numbers for the inductions to fill vacancy's with a limited amount of suitable candidates
