The Alto Group are a large family owned organization and have still managed to retail traditional family values.
The good thingsThe Staff No. 1. The Culture. The Architecture. The very high ceilings and open plan design, all of the departments are a short walk away if you need to speak face to face with a colleague. Friendly support from Head office.
The challengesNone come to mind, I'd recommend working for the Alto Group any day.

Some of management should not hold the position they do....
The good thingsFamily run business with a strong history and deep roots in the local community. Genuine attempts to keep workforce happy and motivated.
The challengesA large amount of old dead wood mixed with managers who inherited their position and have little idea of running a business and people. A lack of any HR is a strong negative...if one was appointed it wouldn't be resourced correctly and be a token attempt. Favouritism is common in this workplace.

Disappointing. The family business has great scope to follow more agile and up to date business practices. Culture of fear in some sectors.
The good thingsIf you have a passion for automotive, then it's a way to connect with this industry.
The challengesLack of innovation or progress in some key areas of business practice and processes. Slow to act on business intelligence. Some management needed to update their approach and head back to Uni!

    A constant battle
The good things5 day working week , the ground level sales and service staff interact well and there was a good culture at one time.
The challengesA disconnect between senior management and dept managers/staff due to a lack of industry experience and knowledge at the senior level. Departmental fragmentation causing massive issues for both customers and staff...

Thought it would make a difference in my career, but it was not worth my while. Worked there for 3 months and then resigned.
The good thingsThey hire students. Temporary residents who are looking to expand their horizons, tons of opportunities for them.
The challengesUnfortunately, the scope is limited. There is nothing you can do to change things. There are so many negatives and those negatives will bother you, the nature of the job is mundane and you will often think of leaving the company.
