Ballarat VIC 3350Less than 1 year in the role, former employee
Extremely disappointing I do not recommended at all.
The good thingsOnly a few members of the office & pay rate.
The challengesEverything, tired employees who had been there for too many years and hated being there telling the newer employees how to treat the position and roll their eyes at any decision you made. Absolutely NO software or call procedure training given, AV manager said just ask a team mate what to do, say and how to navigate software components. It is not up to other AV employees to train new employees these work mates were always busy on calls and had no time to train a new employee. That is a considered pre live on the phone procedure that should be class room based !

    DONT DO IT, go elsewhere
The good thingsyou will work with nice people (and some not so nice) and treat some lovely people.
The challengesManagement are atrocious, you will hear stories from nearly every ambo on road about the toxic and horrible workplace environment. there are way to many managers, with little to no experience in actually managing. HR will actively go after you and try to have you fired, there is no support at any level of management, they frequently hold staff to the "AV values" but never hold themselves to them.

AV culture has not changed I do not recommend put your well being first take note of previous reviews and avoid
The good thingsMade some great mates over the years but the culture has gone from bad to worse I throughly enjoyed walking away best decision I’ve ever made.
The challengesDifficult management empowered by some ladder climbing staff, , long distances, remote location, extremely clicky group, high turn over of staff , culture is toxic , not many older more experienced people left all the decent ones have either left or retired early can’t say I blamed them.

    Run away, run away
The good thingsNone. The most toxic, dysfunctional workplace I've had the misfortune to work with.
The challengesWhere do I start? Lack of accountability, lack of decision-making, no structure, disempowered and overworked workforce, some very entitled and change resistant long term employees...

The pay is high and high quality of work output, however very isolating and little support from management
The good thingsGood work life balance, salary and onsite parking
The challengesVery isolating place to work with little support from management, disagreement and dysfunction between Executive Management departments, makes it hard to progress work. Over bearing and micro management elements of work and a lot of negative comments, disagreement on how to progress work and expectations changing without being communicated

They overemployed the role massively during covid, now have a whole section of us with not enough hours. The situation isn't being actively managed, and the environment has become poisonous and negative.
The good thingsYou just go in and work. Long hours (when you can get them) and good pay per hour.
The challengesThere is no one steering the ship. A few days of training, then nothing but a one-sentence summary of one of your calls.

Give AV a miss if you care about your mental health.
The good thingsGetting paid on time
The challengesA militant organisation that runs like an Army unit, a one size fits all approach. No individual inputs are considered. Highly politicised. Chaotic.

Disappointing, the work, life balance they promote is not equal across the organisation and paramedic focussed and forgets the operations and the accounting departments.
The good thingsThe pay rate is on the higher scale.
The challengesPoor management, management do not have an understanding of my role, management are void of empathy and are emotionally and socially inept.

Some good people but not recommended unless you are a Paramedic
The good thingsReasonable pay, salary sacrifice benefits and accrued days off
The challengesLittle work life balance, expectation that you will work whatever is required to get the job done, reactive, silos everywhere and single points of failure, little in the way of leadership

It should be intensely rewarding but is actually the most frustrating place to work: internal politics means it's impossible to get anything done.
The good thingsMy team! And I get to work with heroes.
The challengesManagement. The t&s division is a chaotic mess run by an authoritarian. Do what you're told!
