Overall a very caring and flexible environment amongst intelligent, passionate people.
The good thingsGreat work/life balance. Flexibility and hybrid working options, extra leave provisions, salary packaging options and an EAP.
The challengesThe work can be very confronting, and there are financial challenges which can impact resourcing.

    Damaging to mental health
The good thingsThe rest of the Refugee Casework team members were great to work with and we were able to be solid support networks to each other.
The challengesConstantly received inconsistent and contradictory requests and comments from the direct manager. Not willing to actively listen to feedback but rather was met with a very defensive persona.

    It was devastating
The good thingsLearned some skills but too many problems
The challengesTheir philosophy is incoherent and they exploit interns and volunteers. Too much opacity from management

I tried to help change the organisation for the better. Some staff are not open to change or improvement. There is a lot of passion but it can be misguided.
The good thingsThe brand attracted some very smart and passionate people. The concept of the work Amnesty International does is fantastic.
The challengesToxic work environment. Management is out of hand and needs to be cleaned up.

    Pretty disappointing
The good thingsThere are some really passionate people scattered throughout the organisation who are focused on Amnesty’s missions.
The challengesThe overall culture is very toxic and unprofessional, especially at the executive level. Very low regard for staff.

Passionate people in an energetic space, with amazing support
The good thingsThe environment is amazing, full of passionate and dedicated people. Enthusiasm is everywhere.
The challengesConfronting issues to do with human rights abuses, which can cause vicarious trauma. However, this is so well managed through supervision and accidental counselling training. We're well looked after.
