Avoid Amplar Health (aka Medibank) as an employer. Go work anywhere else.
The good thingsAbsolutely nothing positive to say.
The challengesAmplar is focussed on kpi's... it is about maintaining their lucrative financial government contracts with nil GENUINE care for consumers. The culture is highly toxic. Front line workers are just numbers. Massive staff turnover is indicative of highly stressful kpi focussed environment and middle management up full of self importance despite their own ineptitude.

So far so good, the reviews were a little scary but it wasn't the reality I faced when I started.
The good thingsThe people are wonderful and there's such a desire to do big things towards it's vision. I've enjoyed the passion from those around me as well as the autonomous nature of the work. The flexibility is incredible and the ability to work from home full time is a blessing.
The challengesThere's a lot of talk around growth and change but in reality not much happening. Upper management needs to be a little more open with it's communication and leading mid/lower management in the direction they want to go. Someone is steering the ship but the anchor is still out.

They should align the organisation’s external narrative with its internal practice to retain staff.
The good thingsDedicated and highly capable frontline clinicians. Exposure to complex mental health systems and contract environments. Opportunity to develop resilience in fast-changing operational settings.
The challengesLeadership direction is inconsistent and frequently reactive. Established processes that function effectively are repeatedly altered without clear rationale. Experienced staff were expected to absorb increasing workloads while accountability remained diffuse. Clinical governance decisions are made without relevant subject matter expertise. The organisation maintains a highly polished external profile that does not align with the internal operational reality. Advice to Management Engage meaningfully with subject matter experts before implementing structural or process changes. Respect clinical governance frameworks and ensure decisions impacting mental health service delivery are informed by appropriately qualified professionals. Clarify accountability at leadership level rather than redistributing responsibility downward. Sustainable systems are built through consultation, transparency, and operational consistency — not reactive restructuring.

Where passion meets purpose: changing lives through science, compassion, and teamwork.
The good thingsWorking here is an incredibly rewarding experience. The team truly feels like a family - supportive, collaborative, and passionate about what we do. We deliver evidence-based programs grounded in the latest research, and it’s amazing to see the real impact these programs have on changing lives. I feel energised every day, valued as a professional, and able to fully utilize both my clinical (as a dietitian) and management skills while enjoying the flexibility of working from home. This is a company that prioritises professionalism, innovation, and people - and I’m proud to be part of it.
The challengesOverall, this is a fantastic place to work, but one area that could be improved is around leave policies. It would be great to see leave loading introduced and for the Christmas office closure not to require staff to use their annual leave. These changes would further enhance the already supportive and flexible culture.

Really the most flexible and family friendly employment I have experienced.
The good thingsThe working from home has had a very positive impact upon my family life. It has provided me with flexibility for my children and it is wonderful - I love it. I get to spend more time with them, instead of commuting and working late at the office. No on call which has also made a huge difference to my own quality of life. Decent pay and a great team, it is great. The ongoing training updates is also great enabling me to also exceed my annual CPD with access to Ausmed.
The challengesI think the leadership are trying their best at making improvements.

A fulfilling role with a collaborative team delivering community-focused virtual care.
The good thingsI’ve really enjoyed my role as Communication Lead for the Community Virtual Nursing Program. The work is meaningful and genuinely focused on improving outcomes for residential aged care homes, focusing on rural and remote areas. I’ve valued the collaboration with a very passionate, supportive team and the opportunity to shape clear, impactful communication. It’s been rewarding to contribute to an innovative model of care.
The challengesAs a growing (pilot) program, there are ongoing opportunities to further refine processes and workflows as the service evolves. I think continued investment in resources and systems would support scalability and long-term sustainability for this program. Overall, the organisation is open to feedback and improvement - which is great!

Don’t be fooled by the recent string of “5 star” reviews.
The good things- Paternity leave - no weekend work
The challenges- extensive travel; no consideration for where you live and finish your day - pay will remain stagnant regardless of performance as profits continue to rise - no control of day and micromanaged - documentation is extremely clunky and available patient information is often little to none - CPD revolves around managing the poor systems put in place or repeated information - no variety in caseload presentations - patients are poorly communicated with or appointments changed regularly leading to clinician mistreatment

Rewarding experience of change, supporting people, and delivering customer-focused outcomes.
The good thingsWorking at Amplar Health is rewarding because it genuinely puts people first — both the customers we support and the teams who deliver that care. There is a strong sense of purpose in the work we do, knowing it makes a real difference to individuals, families, and communities. The culture encourages collaboration, trust, and support, where diverse perspectives are valued and people are empowered to bring their whole selves to work. Amplar Health also fosters growth and development, providing opportunities to learn, contribute meaningfully, and be part of a team that is committed to quality, safety, and doing what’s right.

This challenge creates opportunities for innovation, strengthens capability, and allows people to build resilience while contributing to meaningful improvements for our customers and communities.

My favorite workplace of my entire career!
The good thingsWorking with an organisation to deliver clearly defined ambitions that will ultimately impact all of Australia has been really exciting, and something that I've lacked in previous roles in my administrative capacity. The company is led with autonomy in mind, bringing the right people to the right piece of work has been a refreshing take on things! The flexibility provided to do my job has fostered a deeper level of trust and accountability that I have ever encountered and I believe this results in a greater outcome for my immediate team.
The challengesThe pace and degree of change can be a little overwhelming at times however the leadership team are very cognizant of this challenge and are always willing to help unpack any concerns. We also have fantastic people partners who do a really great job of supporting our business units.

Different but love what I do and the people I get to do this with.
The good thingsI love working at Amplar because I believe what we do really matters. Helping people stay in their homes, where they feel safe and comfortable, is something important to me. It’s rewarding to know we’re making life easier. I also appreciate how Amplar genuinely cares about health and wellbeing—not just for the people we support but for the team. The focus on creating the healthiest workplace makes a difference. It’s exciting to work somewhere that’s always looking for better ways to do things. The innovation in our models of care keeps things fresh and shows we’re leading the way in making healthcare more accessible and effective. The people I work with are standout.
The challengesComing from public health it took some adjusting/was a mindset shift in terms of ways of working, but overall it’s been a positive experience. I’ve learned that there is a real place for 'corporate' in health and it doesn’t mean less care—it about finding different ways to support the whole system.

The good thingsThe autonomy and trust to run my team, my colleagues and our 'can do' attitude. Genuine feeling of assisting the public and as a Leader and a Carer being able to walk the talk and pursue a career, advocate, grow and offer genuine support and flexibility to my team. Our leaders don't always get it right but I have then seen them listen, adjust, hear Lived Experience and then improve which is why I have been here 15 years.

Love my job, my team, my leadership ensemble - together we all make a difference!
The good thingsAs an employee I have had the personal experience of moving into diverse roles and have learnt many moving parts of this part of the business over the years, our teams are very much a "team" and work together so well with a lot of long tenure staff and new staff. We have a great mix of experience and knowledge to share with newer staff, great encouragement, respect and a sense of recognition culture. An amazing Leadership Team, a nurturing environment, acknowledging our values, commitment with a deep sense of sharing and connections.
The challengesW@H can be difficult with regards to a social aspect of this job and would love to have the opportunity to be office based, even on a part time basis although we make good a lot of out of work catch ups for our connections.

Support, trust, respect, and flexibility - so many things I enjoy about my role
The good things- There is a real focus on development if you want to build your skills and have aspirations. I've been supported to take on opportunities to move into different roles that were aligned with my career goals and am now in a leadership position. - Flexibility where possible - they do try to make work-life balance happen when it fits and are open to looking at different ways of working. - They genuinely care for both patients and staff - I've always been treated with respect and compassion, even from colleagues in the wider Medibank business. - Management takes feedback on board and when something could be done better, leadership acknowledges it and takes action. - Awesome local team – practitioners are caring, supportive, and really look out for each other and their patients. - Even without a Perth office, there are chances to meet up and stay connected. - Big company benefits with being part of the Medibank Group (general job stability, perks, employee support).
The challengesBeing on the road delivering care in the community can feel isolating at times, but you do still feel connected to the team through virtual communication channels (and some actually prefer being out and about rather than being in a hospital or clinic setting).

It’s disappointing to see that management seems to lack a basic understanding of how to show respect to their practitioners. They fail to recognise that it’s the skill, care, and commitment of the practitioner that truly builds the business—not endless lectures on how to keep clients happy. The real key to client satisfaction starts with valuing and supporting the people who deliver the care.

The good thingsThe onboarding communication every time I emailed to say I’m in Western Au the equipment may need to be sent earlier. The responses were timely although naive. “Don’t worry our team are used to sending to WA, it will be there on such and such a date” lol …. A week later and two more dates were given
