Great bonus schedule, involving team work to reach the goals set of the mine.
The good thingsDaily meeting with Management and Superintendents on planning and executing the planned works. Met some really great people who were happy to share their experiences and tours of their job sites.
The challengesAlot of departments worked in solo's and corporate having unrealistic expectations and time frames when my department was supporting operations. The 5/2 FIFO roster was tough with 45 hours work per week.

Some much potential so much failure.
The good thingsThe pay and the bus ride home
The challengesPrior planning prevents p*ss poor performance. Too many big kahoonas strutting around trying to measure themselves against each other. Put yourselves away fellas and just focus on getting the job done intelligently and safely. Operators are almost treated like humans, almost.

17 years of experience with this company and was proud to be a part of, not anymore.
The good thingsA lot of experience here, although that means nothing to management
The challengesProduction priorities... selfish management mentality. Seriously have lost their way.

Anglo American is the best company that I have worked for so far. Maybe I have been lucky and my manager and team turned out great, but the interview process was very thorough and when you enter the company, you appreciate all the efforts that have been put through to filter out corporate psychopaths. I am working for Anglo American for three years now and haven’t sensed any toxicity and that’s tough to achieve in such a large organisation.
The good thingsGreat pay, great work/life balance and an excellent environment
The challengesVery big and complex organisation so a bit difficult to find your way around

Poor management and leadership in the HSE realm. Deficit and self serving site leader. High propensity for staff to leave or feel miserable, but nothing is done.
The good thingsA big company with some great ideas and like anywhere, there are some great, hard working people.
The challengesAt Dawson Mine the management team leaves alot to be desired.

Two years of my life I will never get back. Would not recommend.
The good thingsIt was a great team of recruiters. Even though we have all left the company we have maintained contact and great respect and support for one another.
The challengesPoor management who had absolutely no regard for the well-being of their staff. Mental health and stress levels were not considered and I was over worked, often working 14 hour days, and having to be available at all hours due to being part of a global team - altho this expectation was never communicated at interview stage.

    Poor management and toxic environment.
The good thingsThe location is central. The projects are large and complex enough.
The challengesTypical mining challenges where sites and corporate services are not strategically aligned that creates a lot of challenges for contracts decision making. 3 people started the role and left before I started. High staff turn over. I have seen at least 5 people left the team within 2 years. Very sad to see the company doesn't promote excellence, inclusive culture to keep high performing teams.
