    Executive heavy, staff come second
The good thingsGreat staff at the peer level, some incredibly compassionate colleagues.
The challengesCorporate structure is an inverted pyramid. Economic mismanagement becomes a staff issue when the money runs low, yet there is always money for consultations and executive raises. If a Director takes an interest in your area, your days are numbered. HR Department is full of incompetent with no knowledge of Industrial Relations which is by design for the benefit of the institution. Avoid working under Information and Services streams if you don't want your job privatised in the next few years.

The good thingsThere was good take home pay
The challengesLimited commitment to long-term training and lack of clear career progression opportunities

Great atmosphere, team, and management to work with! A bit higher pay would make me want to stay for many years.
The good thingsGreat work-life balance, complete remote for most of the IT specialists. Good management!
The challengesPay could've been better but I guess it's like that in VIC healthcare in general

Good place that needs a lot of improvement. In terms of better training strategies in the radiology department for new & junior employees and encourage positive criticism. Not always pointing out the wrong things that employees are doing, that's belittling. Every one should be treated equally regardless. Management good compared to where I come from but could do better and be more empathetic in their decision making. The goal is to ensure that the department is running smoothly but forgetting that the employees are humans with feelings, correction should be done with empathy and teaching a new employee should be the same. Culture of arrogance and ego has built up where some arrogant employees will not listen to certain employees because of this 'supervisor chair'. Well it's possible for a 'senior ' to learn from a junior something..just because you are a senior doesn't mean you know everything. Humbleness can take this department far.
The good thingsGood place to work when starting off career. As it's a busy hospital with a high turn over of patients. They have theatre, fluoro,Cathlab,CT,MRI, ultrasound. Some great colleagues with great personalities. Management strict, teaches teamwork. Management works on the floor sometimes & Checks employee.
The challengesOvertime staying at place full time might be a waste because you'll realize you wasted time. Favouritism, Little room for growth in department, micromanagement makes most staff nervous, Long CT training wait time . No positive criticism. Belittling.Work Politics. No training strategy.Toxic. Ego!

Working previously in Anatomical Pathology department was quite challenging in meeting and achieving best quality work for the Pathologist but yet so inspiring and fulfilling. Having this new assigned role in Clinical trials is challenging when I think about the role itself but I need an extensive training to perform this role at its best. I needed that knowledge.
The good thingsMy time is so flexible with this role that I have right now
The challengesTo continue to learn more with this new role that was created for me
Careers at Austin HealthHi there, thanks for taking the time to share your experience of working with us. It certainly sounds like you have an exciting challenge to learn and grow in your new role. We wish you all the very best. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback.

Not worth the extra money to work here, high staff turnover, co workers constantly gossiping about each other and clinical staff talking horribly about consumers...
The good thingsSome co-workers and managers, salary packaging, good hours
The challengesBurnt out staff, gossip, no support, poor work environment, parking

The good things- Pays award wages (less than other services in a number of roles) - Some great people work there
The challenges- No funding for professional development - No internal training (aside from hand hygiene) - Fractured and exhausted workforce - Some management but no leadership - Lack of transparency, integrity and accountability in management - Management say one thing (ie, your team will get a team leader in the new structure) but then not deliver, and not communicate this with staff (find out along the grapevine...) - High turnover - Need to leave if you wand opportunity to grow, receive training or be valued - No internal communication - Offers of consultation that never eventuate

Clients amazing. Staff not great, often put down by management and senior staff with no support provided.
The good thingsClients amazing to work with and come with complex challenges that I think really highlight the main social issues and complexities young people face in their day to day lives.
The challengesManagement don't build their workers up, and push their teams to burn out. Workplace culture and views narrow in improving care and support provided to clients. Management not open to hearing the voices of their clients and staff, or willing to act. Lack of training and support provided to build a career
