A soul crushing call centre experience
The good thingsWork with nice colleagues & WFH
The challengesGlued to the phone, KPIs focused, minimal training at the start and during employment for the amount of information you have to know for this role, no flexibility or autonomy at all. Talking to emotional, upset, confused people so expect to be emotionally exhausted and burnt out 24/7

Great people but many of the SES need to move on and new external leaders brought in to share new and contemporary ideas.
The good thingsThe people with the exception of the SES cohort. Some individuals are outstanding but as a group they are selfish. This has been reflected then and time again in the annual survey.
    The challengesMaintaining an apolitical stance

Amazing working environment, however I don't like call centre work!
The good thingsBest work environment you will ever be in. Incredibly supportive & understanding management, inclusive & encouraging morale, friendliest coworkers you will find!
The challengesI worked in the call centre. Very challenging customers at times, and very intensive & overwhelming training to begin with! Non stop calls with no down time.

Gained some excellent knowledge and experience but glad to have left
The good thingsGreat bunch of people to work with and the overall culture is positives
The challengesOne of the major challenges are repetitive work the call centre role brings. If you are chosen as a person they like you may have some great opportunities come your way, in saying that there isn’t much room for movement with regards to different roles within the agency etc

The good things1. Multi racial and mostly friendly people 2. pay accordingly to hours that you did 3. Nice and spacious new office 4. A lot of career development and other field of learning opportunities if you are a permanent staff
The challengesFor my role at that time, whenever it was extremely busy, I could just stand in front of the printing machine whole day long for few days continuously.

A good opportunity, but I am glad to have moved on. Friendly staff, too.
The good thingsAn excellent salary and a very generous enterprise bargaining agreement, which includes 18 days personal leave.
The challengesIt was a call centre environment, and the calls were exceptionally challenging and emotionally draining. I'm of the opinion that call centres make for a stressful and ultimately traumatising environment and a poor business model. Opportunities were provided to engage in projects 'off the phones', which is a credit to management, but inevitably the projects dried up and staff were put back on the phones even when able to demonstrate qualities that could have been put to better use in other areas of the organisation.
