Highly motivating at first, but constant pressure and expectations quickly lead to burnout.
The good thingsfast paced environment, learned allot about compliance.
The challengesThe workplace has a strong focus on constant training and development, which shows investment in staff, but it can feel overwhelming and never-ending with significant additional effort expected outside core work hours. Progression and rewards are often linked to ongoing training and performance targets, but these can feel inconsistent or difficult to achieve. The culture is highly structured and performance-driven, which may suit some but can feel intense, rigid, and lacking autonomy for others. There is a heavy reliance on the Flip app for communication, with an expectation to regularly check it, which can blur work–life boundaries. Internal chat channels also lack consistent moderation, which can lead to unfiltered discussions and an unprofessional tone at times. HR is available, but concerns raised are not always fully addressed, leaving some employees feeling unheard.

    Not for an experienced person
The good thingsGood bonus structure in place, and you get exposure to new systems and technologies.
The challengesYou often feel like just a number, easily replaceable unless when upper management constantly hit their own performance bonuses. Most decisions are made from the top, and staff and management are left to deal with the consequences. There is constant pressure due to ongoing staff cuts, which means you and your entire team expected to take on extra workload just to keep things running. Rosters need to be updated almost daily because budgets are unrealistic. Many managers are quite young and inexperienced, which can create a culture where any unrealistic financial and operational expectations go unchallenged. Senior management tend to maintain a positive front while quietly handling most issues internally, primarily to avoid attention or scrutiny from head office.

    Priorities are backwards
The good thingsHave a lot of money to throw around
The challengesUpper management and head office are incredibly poor. Head office seems to have never set foot inside a venue before while management are very unreliable and indecisive. Management will expect you to sell your sole for the venue.

If you're male and you don't have any family commitments or a life at all you'll probably be fine.
The good thingsThey can afford all the latest technology.
The challengesGetting support when you need it is difficult as you need to wade through a culture of blame and zero accountability. Very toxic, male dominated culture in senior leadership that seems more interested in how they can divert bonuses back into the business instead of paying them to the hardworking front line.

Started out great, loved when they were Spirit Hotels, once merging to AVC things went downhill.
The good thingsThe team I work with is great and hardworking and we all get along well.
The challengesManagement restricting hours to minimise wages but still expecting the same output in production and speed. Essentially running their staff into the ground.

    Horrible management!
The good thingsGreat colleagues and decent pay.
The challengesManagement was extremely poor, with no care for supporting staff. Communication was also lacking, as the management would never reply to important messages. They will unexpectedly fire you without any professional courtesy or prior communication.

The good thingsMeeting new people and making friends for life.
The challengesConstant drive to keep Labor down and make salaried staff members pick up the slack. Lack of communication, and very much a secret service attitude within management.

Great to get your foot in the door, but wouldn't recommend growing your career here
The good thingsHires new hires with no previous experience. Can give you a fair amount of hours in busy venues, but be ready to be cut early when its free.
The challengesManagement is very hierarchal and head office can sometimes made bad decisions and hide between venue managers' back. Hours can vary depending on how busy it is and there has been instances when people were let off early, then business picks up and suddenly the remaining staff have to deal with pressure with minimised staff.

A hospitality franchise that has gentrified the industry and profiteered immensely during the pandemic, trickling down its profits to its hardworking staff with minimum wage.
The good thingsLearned a wide array of cocktails. The place itself was visually beautiful.
The challengesThe pay was the absolute minimum. Was considered part time but worked full time hours. Toxic work environment. Full-price meals except pizza.
