    Mar 2026
Collingwood VIC 30661 to 2 years in the role, former employee
    Ethical externally, toxic internally.
The good thingsThe team I lead were great.
The challengesThis is the type of business where those in higher positions are people who have been with the company since the 80s. They know nothing about how to manage and will take their own ineptitude out on staff. This is evidenced through the exceptionally high turnover.

The good thingsSupportive leadership, best managers I've worked with Really easy job Good work/life balance and support around when I need to care for kids
The challengesCustomers can be rude but guess you get that everywhere Would like better facilities and perks with the job

Doesn’t worth it. There are better opportunities in the market
The good thingsPay is good, workplace well localized
The challengesThere’s no room to grow career. Manager is not prepared for the role (no experience or knowledge, usually making very poor decisions). They keep insisting on keeping incompetent staff at the cost of the good ones while these are overwhelmed, consequently resulting on high turnover.

If I was offered the chance to do it again, I’d rather sit on a cactus
The good thingsThe pay, having a job
The challengesWork culture was horrendous, commoners back in the 1700’s were treated with more respect

The Bank that wants to be big, but acts like it is already and doesn't care for those that matter.
The good thingsThe staff were the main reason I eneded up staying as long as I did. I didn't want them to not have me as protection against management.
The challengesBeing treated unfairly, with no respect and dignity.

If this is the last available job on the planet do not apply
The good thingsThe values of the company are great. The environmental and social aspects of the company are constantly on display and are lived values. There was opportunities to get involved in community orgs, volunteer days, lunches with community organisations
The challengesThe team I worked in was terribly managed and a toxic work environment. Management was almost comical - like something from an 80s film (do as we say and we know best because we're managers!). The workload was insane, the pay was avg to poor, mistakes were highlighted and achievements almost ignored. If I and others in the team hadn't lived through it I wouldn't have believe this work environment existed in 2021.

Good company to work for specially if your values align with the company's.
The good thingsSmall company provides lots of opportunities for advancement and your role can be versatile which is great for learning.
The challengesTight budget leaves management hand tights for business decisions and you have to have patience. Certain managers don't have clearly prescribed responsibility which makes it hard to make sense of the reporting structure sometimes.

The good thingsThe staff I worked with
The challengesBiggest challenge was no help from management when branch was closed down due to Mould issue fir over 4 months & then closed permanently. No further follow up on our health since being made redundant - poor form Bank Australia

Not an enjoyable place to work. Could not recommend
The good thingsSome of the local branch team - including immediate manager where great people. Opportunity to coach some of the newer & younger staff. Opportunity to help customers with general insurance. Seemed to present as a great employer - until you start. Then like your worst nightmare. Seriously nothing else.
The challengesA toxic culture mainly from 'head office' and if you suggest or offer anything to change or improve let alone express an opinion you are 'squashed' and essentially done. The employee turnover was high, and morale low. Really sad. And regional customers not held in much regard at all. More micro management & sales pressure than any of the 'major banks' I have had anything to do with.

Caring, values-based organization with so much passion for the good it achieves
The good thingsExceptional culture, values-based organisation, they genuinely care about employees
The challengesStill advancing systems and technology, but almost there! There's no bonuses or commissions but that's part of the great culture - knowing that customers' money is being used for good instead of pushing sales!

    I was treated poorly
The good thingsThe co workers in entry level positions are amazing people
The challengesThe skills of middle management are outdated and do not support the frontline workforce. They prefer to force their ideas onto staff and have costly failures than embrace suggestions made by lower level staff
