    Bewildered In Bello
    The good thingsGreat Office, awesome quirky colleagues and Working Location right next to the Bellingen River.
    The challengesManagement / Supervisor with no idea of the challenges of the role and the resources required to complete the role. Micromanagement, miscommunication and dishonesty. Outdated systems and a reliance on systems that resulted in double handing / triple handling of work.

    Seriously, I cannot believe how poorly this Council is managed and operates.
    The good thingsSome of the people who work there a great despite the toxic work place culture and absence of management talent and support.
    The challengesHonestly, the majority of the Executive and Senior Management teams are not experienced or qualified to perform their roles so it's very challenging to get the most basic of tasks done.

    I enjoyed my time here but there were things going on that shouldn't have been happening. Misuse of government funds, creating jobs for family members to apply for and them being chosen for the job over other qualified candidates.
    The good thingsMet some lovely people Everyday was different Enjoyed my time working here
    The challengesOther workers were difficult to work with at times and actually altered my contact info so I got less work and being casual there's no guarantee of any ongoing work anyway

    Not what I expected.
    The good thingsNo weekend work or overtime, office hours only.
    The challengesToxic work environment. A lot of negativity in the work place with unfortunately no-one stepping up to seriously take responsibility to make positive long term lasting changes. Management does not step up to the plate. Constant broken promises. Numerous accounts of staff regularly on stress leave or breaking under pressure. The pay is well under other Local Councils.

    Could be such a good place, but has a toxic culture unfortunately
    The good thingsThe community are great and the everyday staff at Council try hard and try
    The challengesDefinitely the management, which is not going to change whilst executive management team is in place, dealing with snr management is exretemly the most difficult aspect of working there

    Don’t waste your time…worst working environment ever experienced
    The good thingsStaff try their best to do a good job but are consistently undermined by executive management’s poor decision making (if/when they make a decision at all).
    The challengesAbsolutely toxic culture, executive management show no leadership whatsoever and do not value or support employees. Chronic turnover of staff with the lowest pay rates in local government that they try to trade off for the ‘lifestyle.’ Extremely reactive rather than proactive.

    Do it if you need it for your cv, but not as a long term role. Trust me.
    The good thingsThe 5 weeks annual leave and early long service leave are great, and I've made some great friends through my role.
    The challengesCompletely toxic management, beyond anything I've ever experienced in thirty years of working. Extremely high turnover of staff due to bad management and stressful work environment.
