Commercial property work across transactions, due diligence and lease matters. The good thingsI worked in property, focusing on commercial property acquisitions and sales (occasional residential property), due diligence, lease reviews linked to commercial property matters and some property work for the firm's banking clients. It was a good place to gain broad and practical experience in this area, with strong knowledge across the team and a good standard of work. The staff were friendly and supportive, there was a healthy level of trust and autonomy, and the firm managed working hours well without creating an unnecessary burnout culture. My supervising director was a fountain of knowledge and supported me when I had gaps in knowledge or experience.
The challengesLike most property roles, there were periods where multiple acquisitions, sales and lease matters overlapped, which meant managing competing deadlines and priorities.
