    3 jobs for the price of one
    The good thingsGetting discounts on some food is good some co workers are good. Customers are good you'll probably get a free coffee.
    The challengesManagement doesnt want to be there, high staff turnover, unsafe working conditions, no real training learn on the fly low pay and you're doing 3 jobs. If you get in early truck and orders won't be done so you'll help morning shift finish, then you'll deliver if you finish before your working hours you'll be back in the warehouse loading more pallets for the morning shift for the next day. Working a Saturday means you're all 3 jobs there should be 2 trucks or just a warehouse worker on to get everything ready. Your "generous discounts" turns out to be cheaper to just go to coles or woolies. If you need basic equipment like a trolly or rain coat.. good luck. Yes I got terminated during probation for making mistakes I always finished on time, everyone got their orders I only made 1 massive mistake that I would've been happy to rectify. At the end of the day it's probably a blessing as they never want to fix things. I slipped out of the truck due to an unsafe door latch.

    Toxic work environment, power hungry management
    The good thingsvery few select good people, it is hard to tell. long hours but unfortunately not good money
    The challengesmanagement is toxic, always expecting things to be done at world record pace regardless of worker safety. constant pressure and toxic environment. no truck driver should have to go through what this company puts its many employees through. workplace is filled with people who will suck up to management to get promotions or pay rises, and the operations manager has no idea what he is doing. they do not support you or give you any sort of direction, with very limited training. they believe the customer is always correct and will happily throw there employees under the bus to keep a customer around. never work here, if you value family and money, this is DEFINITELY not the place to be. it is a good resume builder and maximum 3 months should be spent in the role

    The challengesThe triple handling and manual handling when delivering products. Not having to work through your lunch breaks when delivering because. They are so pushy and want you to work like a racehorse. It’s all about how quick you can work. So they can save money. Company that couldn’t care less about safety it’s all about delivering quicker. If you want a job where you a forced to flog your guts out with no lunch break then this is perfect job for you.

    While the experienced gained here allowed me to progress into much better and high paying job this was never going to be a role where I could progress.
    The good thingsIt is a good opportunity to get experience as a storeperson
    The challengesTerrible management who blame every issue on the workers without taking into account themselves, lack of the required equipment - probably spent at least 20 minutes a day just looking for BOXES. You're either left to your own devices or micromanaged to an extreme extent over everything you do. If you're not immediately close with a supervisor expect to be treated worse than those who are, with them neglecting to appreciate the effort you put in in favor of those who they like. Little to no acknowledgement or appreciation for putting in extra effort, and expect to be pulled threatened by management with termination over any mistake you make. Managers prioritize meeting their budgets for their yearly bonus over employee health, access to resources and overall workplace culture. If you're a casual, expect to be treated much worse than others - they will consistently remind you that you ARE replaceable.

I really enjoyed my time working at Bidfood Port Melbourne and it was a really good place to work. The benefits are They give young people with no experience an opportunity to work in the industry They give you experience when you get your forklift licence to drive the high reach forklifts and the zippy’s when you have no experience There are many opportunities to move around within the company like to start in the warehouse as a warehouse storeperson and to move into the sales department, customer service department or working with the inventory controllers in the inventory department.
    The challengesLiving far away from work and having a long commute might be a challenge for somebody unfortunately I had to leave Bidfood Port Melbourne because the job was very far away from my home but if it wasn’t for the long commute I would never have left Bidfood Port Melbourne as it was a good place to work but as for the workplace it was very well managed and a really good place to work.

    Management, particularly the Senior Management, can be very abrasive & refuse to accept that the front end staff have difficulties that they need to manage better, but wont. They have a way of doing things, and you conform. Arrogant beyond belief.

    The challengesFinding the motivation to return each day. The pickers are absolutely dreadful at doing their job properly, making a drivers job a lot harder than it should be.
