My coworkers were more helpful, than the team leader & management
The good thingsCoworkers were good work with. Very helpful
The challengesWas not advised of my Kpi's by team leader, therefore found it challenging to meet. Due to that, I felt like I did not have the opportunity to improve & was let go

    Fantastic place to work.
The good thingsJoining Booktopia was a very happy accident for me. I joined when Covid first hit Australia and job openings were scarce. It turned out to the best move of my career. Friendly colleagues who are great at what they do, Highly knowledgeable & supportive management team, WFH options, fast career progression, and the company actually performs better during the pandemic which means excellent job security.
The challengesNone that I can think of.

Very good: they are honest and decent to work for.
The good thingsI have worked for this company since 2016 and I have found them very good to work for. They do exactly what they say they'll do (eg: everything from "we'll get you a better laptop" to smashing sales targets to massive tech upgrades), they are nice to deal with, the conditions are good, the environment supportive and the pay very decent. They genuinely support the career advancement of their staff and I have seen several careers accelerated from working here.
The challengesEverything moves quickly so it can be hard to keep up with all the changes about the place.

A fast-paced environment with a great team, can be challenging at times but ultimately always supportive with lots of room for growth.
The good thingsIt's a really supportive environment where you have the freedom to make your role your own, and there are lots of opportunities for growth and advancement if you want to take them. The team tends to work well together and any issues are usually dealt with effectively. There are great perks for book-lovers and many passionate people throughout the business. It's also an exciting environment if you're passionate about ecommerce. New ideas can be challenging to get off the ground, but upper management are generally open to hearing them and supportive of the right ones.
The challengesIt can be quite stressful at times due to the sheer amount of projects, campaigns, roll outs and high growth that are happening. Sometimes we can be too focused on the small details, which can mean not seeing the forest for the trees. There are also too many meetings in the diary.

Really enjoying my role with Booktopia so far, and can't wait to see how it grows over the next 12 months. Very lucky to work for a business who even though the timing of employment starting during COVID was a big risk, were willing to take the risk and create these new roles.
The good thingsColleagues always willing to help everyone. Very Supportive group of people within the company.
The challengesDue to COVID we have been unable to meet a lot of people who work for the business. Obviously this has not been in anyones control.

In an environment that is continuously evolving, with a great structure in place, I have developed personally and professionally.
The good thingsIn a demanding environment, the company is highly supportive to those that are committed. The staff are talented and deeply passionate, contributing to a great work culture.
The challengesChallenges include operating within a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround times expected.

A company you never knew you would want to work for!
The good thingsBooktopia has been a blessing in disguise! The team I work most closely with provide a fantastic support in challenging times. The team in the support office are helpful and can point you in the right direction. The perks are phenomenal for a newly created role.
The challengesMy role was created 18 months ahead of the intended timeline so the supporting systems for this job have not been developed yet. Learning how the system works and what can and cant be done is probably the biggest challenge. Working remotely in this role is a challenge for getting that support from your team, but the system in place ensures someone is never far away.

    Enriching, encouraging, and certainly engaging!
The good thingsVery good staff/management engagement and staff incentive/social events/programs. All job positions are offered internally, and training and advancement is encouraged. A very sound HR department, and excellent report with management who take time to engage with staff during general 'walk arounds' through their distribution centre. Regular staff BBQs and awards (with gifts). Management seem happy to accommodate personal engagements where needed so long as there's a fair balance of \"give and take\". Work environment is mostly positive, and it's rare to hear a raised voice or managers with \"anger management\" issues.
The challengesIt's fast growing. With a fast paced work environment there's going to be challenges that force people to \"think outside the box\" until systems or processes catch up. Some people find that challenging, others, frustrating. I found it to be both. But the positives always outweighed the negatives there.
