Disappointing , inexperienced and disorganised management roles
The good thingsNeat and tidy facilities
The challengesEthical work place culture improvement and value of staff. Honesty during hiring processes. Positive transparent communications of staff expectations. More professional refinement of hospitality processes and procedure.

A business that cares and great place to be supported and work.
The good thingsManagement are really down to earth and care about the customers and staff. Customers are lovely and food quality to amazing. Very flexible with commitments.
The challengesIt can get very busy and the tavern has high standards from staff, but this is not necessarily a negative - more a proud family owned business.

It was a great experience where I learnt so many things that I’ll never forget
The good thingsWith being a family run business, I felt like apart of the family. They are very understanding of uni/school commitments and are happy to discuss hours that work with you. It is a very fun work environment with some awesome staff there too. The venue has many different working environments and I loved the different challenges that the different environments gave me. Also have to mention the delicious food.
The challengesOnly challenging thing I can say is that there are late nights and you can be kept back a few hours despite what your roster says but that is hospitality and how it can be when it’s a customer based environment.

Very low morale and the staff are miserable. I wouldn't recommend working here.
The good thingsAlways clean and tidy. The staff room is one of the best I've seen!
The challengesthe lack of deference towards staff from upper management. The reduction in pay starting in 2024. ZERO work life balance. I've seen reduced hours to those that argued for balance.

With over 6 years experience at The BRT, I've been able to experience many opportunities in different departments and on different levels whilst receiving strong guidance and encouragement from Management and Team Members.
The good thingsStrong and positive Team culture and environment. Company size and structure flexibility enables staff to work in multiple departments if they wish once trained.
The challengesMulti faceted Entertainment Business is always naturally evolving to meet the demands of the community and changing times. The challenge is to stay up date with all changes that occur within the Venue and continue to train/alert staff accordingly.

    A part of the family!
The good thingsGood work/life balance. Great mates. A sense of accomplishment when the day is done. Working for this family business, you are a part of the family.
The challengesSome people might be challenged by the expectation that you have to think for yourself and often work autonomously. Support is there when needed, but this isn't one on the big chains where everything is spoon fed to you.

A rollercoaster from start to finish.
The good thingsThe regular customers were always nice and you could keep any tips they gave you, to yourself.
The challengesManagement weren't very accomadating, especially those who studied.

Lovely environment with a diverse range of opportunities
The good thingsLoved the diverse opportunities available in one place. My fellow coworkers always made the job interesting and it allowed me to build lots of relationships with local customers. I definitely have learnt many valuable skills since working at the Tavern that could allow me to explore a number of industries and careers if I chose to. The pay for a hospitality worker was quite fair as well.
The challengesIt definitely is a fast paced and high intensity environment but it allowed me to develop the skills and qualities needed to be able to work in such an environment.

    Challenging but satisfying.
The good thingsThe variety in everyday operations was great. Quite a fast paced work environment and I never felt bored or stagnant.
The challengesBit of a beneficial skill to develop but the abilities to work with such a wide range of personalities. Suppliers and customers constantly needing varied approaches to achieve desired results always kept you learning.

The good thingsHonestly, not a lot.
The challengesThe difficulties were the long hours, late nights, early mornings, and no proper breaks.
