My experience working at budget rent a car was not great. I find management don’t care for their employees and can’t return an email when trying to resolve an issue.

An amazing opportunity that continues to offer a rewarding career still to this day.
The good thingsRewarding company with an honest and genuine management team, well-structured and organised business, fair and flexible with work-life balance and family commitments.
The challengesWorking in a remote area with logistical challenges for customers with mechanical issues and remaining extremely vigilant at all times with crime to vehicles in the area.

Too much expected for such a low pay scale.
The good thingsSome great people work at my location, you meet some nice people as customers, the 4 day working week is great. It's close to home
The challengesThe pay is a disgrace for what's expected. The sales push for people on such low wages is very threatening. The business model is so flawed and everything is reactive to the market, not proactive or leading.

The only reason you would work here for more than 2 years is due to family/mortgage commitments.
The good thingsAll Management gets a car!
The challengesAlways wanting more as all money hungry companies are, nothing is ever good enough. No one is treated equally, depending on your private life allows you to get away with more.

It’s an interesting ride at Budget
The good thingsWorking as a team with co-workers. Rotating fortnightly roster where you have both weekdays and weekends off and only work 8 days. Driving lots of different vehicles. Not just cars but buses, vans and trucks. Getting out of the office ferrying vehicles between branches or picking up vehicles from schools. Get outside on occasions to help detail and wash vehicles.
The challengesThe main computer system, wizard, is quite dated and not user friendly. On occasions you will be doing 3 or 4 things at the same time and this can cause stress and frustration, leading to a drop in staff morale.

Miss the money but not the stress
The good thingsGood pay great commission opportunities - great team mates to work with. If you can handle high stress & long hours then this is a great job & company
The challengesVery full on you have to be good at multi tasking time management, long hours not flexible with work/family life often no staff so always needed to do extra hrs

I enjoyed doing this job, however it did not provide enough hours of employment to cover my living expenses.
The good thingsYou get to drive a variety of different vehicals, many that are the latest models. This is good to get a bit of an idear what some of the different brands have to offer which can be handy if considering buying a new vehical.
The challengesBecause it is 'on call' employment you need to keep yourself available and answer the phone if it rings so as to get the work if you are called. The hours are very minimal and not enough to live on.

    Great boss, great environment!
The good thingsI do have a great boss. I get to meet a variety of people and get to know the regulars.
The challengesThe most challenging part of this job is working in the heat, jumping into hot cars in the tropics can be taxing.

Great to work for but I hated working all the holidays
The good thingsGreat company and family run business to work for. The bosses would have 2 parties a year that the whole company was invited to.
The challengesRunning out of cars at xmas and dealing with grumpy customers because of it. Having to work every public holiday and xmas/Easter as the airport doesn't close.

    Budget really can mean budget
The good thingsmost staff get along which makes working together easier. Pay is good for the hours and you can earn monthly bonus's depending on your selling and customer service. As an employee you also get to drive some of the rental cars so that can be fun if you like cars.
The challengesdifficult customers were challenging sometimes you had to do your best to appease them. the hours can be challenging as well if your not a early morning person or don't like being up late at night. trying to find the work life balance around the shift work was challenging.

The challengesThe systems used is quite complex. Which means you learn something new each day. No day is the same .

I enjoyed my time at budget and made lifeLong friends. It couldn't ask for a better job than working with this company.
The good thingsI had the most amazing boss and the staff. I learnt a lot about cars and deleveloped my knowledge in that area. The team was very welcoming and helped me in any way possible with work and my personal life.
The challengesThe main challenge was help run out Roma office and helping out main client with their vechicles for the mines.
