Great place to work with excellent opportunities to progress globally
The good thingsExcellent career progression, many training opportunities and excellent support from my direct manager and peers. I've had the opportunity to work on some of the most iconic projects across the country and no 2 days are the same.
The challengesThe company offers great employee benefits but would love to see more in the health space eg. discounts of gym membership

If you don’t care about your mental or physical health this is the job for you. If you do RUN AWAY.
The good thingsThe mates I made while I was there, didn’t mind the work.
The challengesManagement don’t care about their people at all, push everyone to breaking point. They have had new people turn up for their first day of training only to have the manager work from home that day and make the supervisor do the training with no idea what to do or what their required for the training, most never came back. Managers will try and guilt you into covering shifts even when they know you are unavailable whether that is because you have covered previous shifts and only had a day off and need the rest, or if it is because of a family emergency. Oh, and don’t try and say your sick because that is still not good enough.

Good physical work, pay was same at many other companies. But the roster was HORRENDOUS!!
The good thingsMost staff were friendly and nice. Got paid for doing an 11 hour workout!
The challengesThe roster! Urgh. I've no issue with doing nights, in fact I handle that well. The rotation when I worked here was ridiculous for ANYONE to get used to. It was 3D 3N 3off 3D 2N 2off 2D 3N 3off...get the picture. The rollercoaster was intense and did nobody any favours for being fit for work, everyone on crew were ALWAYS tired, amazing there weren't more incidents. Also, no one ever had energy left in the tank, nor the time, to be social in personal life. It was a physical drain because of the roster. I had no issue with upper management though they were a bit hard to approach for the inexperienced young ones.

You are generally safe as long as you do not go against management, especially if you are favored by your manager. They can support you in various situations, but if you oppose them, you risk getting fired. Therefore, it’s best to do your work quietly and go home without arguing with management or team leaders. There may be no job reviews for years, which could result in getting stuck in one department indefinitely, with no opportunities for progress or learning new skills. Additionally, HR is often unresponsive and does not address your concerns promptly.
The good thingsThere are no good things at all, only flexibility when it is requested.
The challengesWorkload is higher than expected, the environment is dusty, and there are no safety protocols. We are constantly monitored by Safe Work SA, but nobody wants to speak out due to job security concerns, as most employees are casual workers or students.

A workplace that is toxic both physically and mentally. Avoid!
The good thingsThe camaraderie shared with fellow disgruntled workmates.
The challengesRotten from the top down. Management are completely incompetent. They reward employees who stay quiet and punish those that voice their concerns. Performance reviews are non existent and there is no room for career progression. Safety is an absolute joke and good luck getting a reply from HR.

Make sure you find a manager that will be looking out for you, otherwise just quit. Selfish managers, toxic workplace, minimum pay, no growth.
The good thingsThe people that you become friends with and BV being international for global opportunities
The challengesManagement, toxic managers who what management is, which makes the workplace toxic and not trustworthy. The remuneration, they write competitive salary, think more of minimum remuneration compared to the industry. No growth opportunities unless you're mates with the n+2, you'll forever be stuck.

The challengesSome people are a bit territorial. No acknowledgment. Feeling of being unwelcome.

The challengesNo training, no perks as promised, no support at all from HR or Area manager, unfair work practices happening regularly in workplace, especially from manager.

The above award pay isn’t that much above award and all the other companies pay the same so it’s really not worth your effort.
The good thingsIt’s close to home so I save on fuel and commute time. Overtime when you can get it.
The challengesManagement turn a blind eye to what’s going on and are slow to make any meaningful change. There is a high turnover of staff and no career growth.

My experience at the company had its challenges. While I did gain some industry-specific skills, the overall environment lacked support and structure, which made it difficult to thrive. There were limited opportunities for growth, and operational inefficiencies often caused frustration. It wasn't the most positive experience, but it did teach me resilience and problem-solving in tough conditions.
The good thingsThe environment helped me build resilience and adaptability, skills that I continue to use in my career.
The challengesThe environment is noisy and dusty, and it involves shift work.

I’m grateful for the opportunity this company gave me to build up my experiences. With that being said I’m leaving this company with huge burnout. This is by far the worst company I have worked for.
The good thingsThe people who helped made the place bearable.
The challengesPoor upper management which trickles down to the floor staff.

Good company to work for with limited perks and support
The good thingsA lot of career development opportunities, positive work culture and strong focus on performance review meetings with staff.
The challengesLow salary compared to competitors with limited perks, Limited HR and IT support, outdated office systems with little to no improvement being made and visible pressure from upper management to cut costs

If you have other choices, don't take this one
The good thingsthe only good thing is your workmates who are on the same level. at least you can share some common issues.
The challengeshow many times you need to ask to get a response from: supervisor: 3 management team: 5 human resource: never they simply don't care. Especially with the HR team claims in the job description "Fantastic Training and Development opportunities; an annual review to plan your career development.". I don't even know how to describe the ridiculousness of this sentence. There's no development or any kind of review. If you do more, they ask more but without giving anything. If you ask, good luck.

Good for short-term money, not a career.
The good thingsFlexible schedule for lunch breaks
The challengesVery poor management with double-standards. Older staff are very territorial. Training/progression does not happen unless you are constantly asking for it.

A wonderful stepping stone to move on to an actual career.
The good thingsYou will be working with some amazing people from different backgrounds and this is one of the motivations we have from working here. Company does provide just enough development for your resume building needs. Perfect for newcomers to the industry.
The challengesCareer advancement is too competitive and unrewarding due to the petty politics and the company’s focus on low profit margins. If you do get the rare opportunity, you will find that the salary is still subpar. People gifted with dignity and some degree of intelligence would tend to move forward from this company.

I have never had an issue working with BV. Management and people are very supportive. Only left because need to move to Perth from Kalgoorlie. Only downside is there is no job offer to work in Perth for a relocating employee. I would have just stayed there forever if not for that.
The good thingsThe vast experience and diversity of the team and its management are very commendable. Such a nice place to work with. Always has something new to learn and challenges to tackle that will stretch your adaptability and decision making.
The challengesNo job offer for relocating employee. Otherwise would have stayed there forever.

    Poor Place to work for
The good thingsNothing much as they just try to run the departments with no sense of respect at all.
The challengesManagement never there when you need them, you ask for things and nothing gets done. Safety what Safety they need a good hard look at themselves on this. Example: You shouldn't have to pick up a power board that is lying in water. Communication they pride themselves on and it is not evident at all from the top.
