    Helpdesk Support Role
    Dec 2024
    Brisbane QLD 4000former employee
The high volume of work and lack cross training in the technology team was prevalent leading to people being pigeon holed in their role. Upper management seemed to have treated the support services as expendable and given the lack of direction there was always a lingering feeling that you could be replaced. If your goal is to work and go home this is a perfect place however if your goal is to improve and up skill it would be worth reconsidering.
The good thingsFree coffee and pastries for breakfast, cheap onsite lunches, supportive atmosphere for the most part. Some roles provide flexibility Middle management was friendly and supportive however at the lower level there appeared to be a disconnect from upper management
The challengesMinimal growth opportunities unless you click with the right people introductory salary is slightly above average however Business services ( Including IT support) have experienced stagnant yearly increases Unclear direction from management High number of support requests often dealing with conflicting priorities based on which end user you're dealing with

A terrible culture, driven by management's relentless micromanaging and overall negative attitude.
The good thingsA nice team to work with
The challengesManagement's relentless micromanaging and unprofessional approach creating a terrible atmosphere leading to total unhappiness and for experienced staff to look for alternatives. Ignoring staff experience and expertise dismissing any thoughts or ideas aimed at improving processes and procedures. Incredibdly long hours daily work and a total lack of recognition at any anytime despite some consistent improvements.

Look to other better firms to consider- many top tier firms have a better culture
The good thingssome nice people but mostly judgey older women who don't like a younger crowd
The challengesToo many to list. Poor management, terrible partners who expect you to run every little aspect of their life. no patience and overworked

A disaster of a decision to move from stable employment to that mess.
The good thingsMet a few nice people
The challengesPoor behavioural practices are known and not dealt with. Staff are pushed beyond their limits. Support is lip service and leaving is your only real option.

Good experience and exposure to different processes, but would never work for another law firm after working for Corrs.
The good thingsThe perks of the office are good, and the office is in a good location with the CBD.
The challengesVery slow to improve processes, the environment is incredibly stiff and political.

Hard people to work with in beautiful surrounds
The good thingstheir offices are simply stunning - the decor is impressive and it is a great environment to work in
The challengesManagement was out of touch with the realities of working. Their benefits were substandard and they would not even look into getting gym memberships (offered free from a nearby gym) as part of an offering. their idea of benefits was the annual Christmas Party and Welcome Back Drinks.

    Avoid like the plague!
The good thingsits a fancy building/office and great location. They have monthly Corrs Applause meetings with drinks and snacks with the CEO. But remember all that glitters is not always gold!
The challengesNot sure about legal teams but there is horrible culture across support services i.e. patronising/condescending tones used, lack of team or collaborated efforts, lack of communication and appreciation, teams below management not valued and seen as being easily \"disposable\", management too busy to answer team's questions or give guidance, constant micro-management, team members constantly thrown under the bus and a lot of politics.

An environment with lots of unrealistic expectations where employees end up overworked and worn out.
The good thingsExtra week’s leave a year.
The challengesLack of appreciation for non fee earning employees. Unrealistic expectations in relation to amount of work a person can do and overtime expected. Unhealthy and toxic work environment.

The good thingsPurchase leave, short probation period, staff events, onsite cafeteria, central location.

    A great place to work.
The good thingsCorrs has a great culture, and employs highly capable, talented, and commercially orientated people. It was a pleasure to work there. My managers and the partnership were very proactive in providing me with development opportunities, which has greatly benefited my career.
The challengesWhile Corrs is very open to new ideas and projects, they can at times be slow to execute them which can be frustrating.

    A great place to work!
The good thingsGreat teams. Fantastic culture. Client centric and high quality service provider.
The challengesMore emphasis needs to be placed on looking after all parts of the business, not just the lawyers.

I do not recommend, it is like high school in there
The good thingsThe office space and amenities available for staff.
The challengesManagement is HORRID. People are extremely unprofessional and rude give you a lot of work with no support and no room for any errors.

If your not liked you quickly find yourself feeling isolated and alone.
The good thingsFlexible arrangements are offered as well as scholarship opportunities, good cafe with a loyalty system which gives you a free coffee They do pay well.
The challengesOutdated systems, support teams such as finance and technology need to be more centralised and available, peers not the most friendly or helpful a bit of a silo environment, if you don't \"click\" immediately with peers you won't survive. High staff turnover was something I noticed. Layout internally of building not the best you gave to go down two levels to use a microwave.

Good job, but the remuneration has room for improvement.
The good thingsThe office is great and so is the team i work with, everything is clean and modern, we even have a cafe.
The challengesThere is not as many growth opportunities as I first imagined, and the salary is looking less competitive this year, considering I am performing much higher duties than would normally be associated with my role.

Great work until you fall pregnant and then they couldn't care less about you!
The good thingsGood pay, some really wonderful staff, and gorgeous professional offices. Respectful working environment. Good facilities, and good social outings.
The challengesBeing quite young. Falling pregnant just inside probation and having my contract cancelled due to 'not fitting in' even though 2 days prior I was praised for my good work within the company, and asked to do more hours (was part time, 4 days a week, and was asked to do a 5th day every few weeks)

    Great atmosphere and learning experience
The good thingsSo much to learn through the different divisions. The people are great and it has a very good work/life balance.
The challengesThere is so much moving around in the divisions that it's hard to learn anything for long enough.
